Almost 14 weeks and in need of some proper support. Boobs appear to have ballooned overnight!

Presume I just get something soft without wires, that's not specifically labelled 'maternity'? Googling maternity bras just gives me lots of nursing bras which obviously I don't need yet....or do you buy nursing bras and just wear them all the way through?

And any recommendations? don't even know what size I am agghhh

I just wore normal bras until after lo was born, then switched to nursing bras. i would try some on and see what size fits best, or you can do a bra fitting in a baby shop like jojo maman bebe. hth!

I got a 2 pack from Asda (George) they are still structured but no wires. They are decent cost too! :)

I've also seen a lot of people recommending primark sports bras as inexpensive and comfortable xx

CrystalMaisie · 22/12/2020 16:03

Underwired are fine, so long as they fit correctly.

Aubergina · 22/12/2020 16:04

I bought these and they're amazingly comfortable https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010RYWJSO/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc_nJH4FbYPA8PJ6

Crop top sporty style bras from asda. Life & game changer!!
They're really stretchy too so comfy throughout.

Boob or bust helps you measure yourself. Your choice what type of bra to get. I know most places won't let you try on or get measured there, so thought I'd mention. Best to buy a sister size small and the size boob or bust gives you, as different styles and brands, unfortunately, don't always fit to size.

I saw a guide on M&S website about what bras to wear during each trimester and then ordered lots (lots) online to try on while we can’t go to the shops. I struggled to find some with a small enough band size and large enough cup but have some from Next in the end that are non maternity no wire

ALew15 · 22/12/2020 17:38

I bought my maternity/nursing bras off eBay. I wouldn't spend a lot because you could go up a size again in a few weeks.

Mollymarvelous · 22/12/2020 18:00

Wore bravado full cup nursing bra from maternity to nursing. Most comfortable I found after trying lots and lots

jamie980 · 22/12/2020 18:06

I got a twin pack of soft bamboo nursing / sleep bras from Seraphine that have seen me through pregnancy so far, they’re really comfy to sleep in and I figured they’d see me through BFing too if they don’t balloon too much more so hopefully a good investment!

Bleepers · 22/12/2020 18:57

Second on the seraphine. So comfy! I wore nursing bras from about 14 weeks- I was damned if I was going to keep spending money on bras I wouldn't wear much/would grow out of. After 10 months of breastfeeding I was sick of the sight of them but saved me a fortune. Now I'm pregnant again and sad I have to give up my nice normal bras again...

Kakapopo · 22/12/2020 19:44

Nursing and maternity bras tend to cover a wide range of sizes, so there’s room to grow, and they’ll be useful afterwards. I’ve been wearing mine since about 24 weeks and the support is enough for me (no idea what size I am right now. I’m guessing a C or a D). I have some Emma Jane nursing and maternity bras (£13), which cover B to F. Get some strap extenders, too, for when your ribs start expanding in the final trimester Smile.

physicskate · 22/12/2020 19:57

Yeah I got those seraphine bras and they DO NOT work for small back large cup!!! I'm about a 32/34 FF and the large was a bit lose around and didn't cover half the boob!! Xmas Blush

FTM91 · 23/12/2020 07:09

Thanks so much everyone! I've got the Amazon one arriving today and will wait and see if the Sereaphine ones are in the Jan sales.

@physicskate thanks for the tip. I've put my measurements into boob or bust and come out MUCH bigger than I expected. Half of me doesn't want to trust it but half maybe doesn't want to admit that I could be that big Grin

Asda pull on crop top style are amazing!! I started with a two pack of large but recently bought more in XL just for additional comfort. They're so supportive and I sometimes sleep in mine! Think they also do a nursing variety which I'll defo be buying!
