MMC or do I have my dates wrong?

Sorry the long winded post... I had a very faint positive test on 13th October but bled on 14th October for 3-4 days and then had a negative test so assuming it was maybe a chemical pregnancy. Not sure when I’ve ovulated but got a very strong positive test on 16th November, the positive came up before the control line. I went for a private scan on Friday 18th December, according to the date of my last period (14th October) I should have been 9+2 however only measured 6+1 and there was no heartbeat. The CRL was 5mm. The sonographer was of the opinion I have had a missed miscarriage. It all happened so quickly I didn’t really have time to ask questions. I am due to go to the EPU on 29th December to have it confirmed. I’ve had no bleeding or cramps and still feel nauseous and my boobs are throbbing and sore to touch and massive I might add!!! I’m just wondering if my dates do actually make me approx 6weeks? I came off my pill in August and my periods haven’t been 28 days apart more like 35 days apart. I’ve worked it out that I could have ovulated week commencing 2nd November which would have made me 6 weeks at the scan but don’t know if I’m working that out correctly? The midwife at the EPU said they like to give anything under 7mm a chance to grow. I’ve prepared for the worst in any event, I like to be realistic about things but I’ve just got this niggling feeling that all is OK. Has anyone had a similar experience good or bad or have an idea about dates? I know there are only 2 outcomes MMC or wrong dates just wondered what others thought, impartial thoughts too, my family, bless them are saying everything will be ok but as I said I like to be realistic. Sorry again for the long post!

If you were measuring 6+1 on 18th Dec that would have meant your conception date would be approximately 19th Nov (as you get 2 weeks ‘free’). Did they not offer to check your HCG levels?

I think it can be either way. There is a chance that the chemical pregnancy messed up your cycle and you ovulated late. There is no knowing until the next scan. Good luck.

Big chance you can be pregnant and just ovulated late however please don't be certain this has happened.

I remember my MMC (at 12 weeks, baby passes a few weeks before) and I spent 5 days trying to convince myself that when I go back for the EPU and the D&C that everything could be ok so I asked for a confirmation scan. I was Googling possibilities etc. I knew, deep down, it wasn't possible, but I was praying for a miracle and it hurt that much more when it was confirmed the second time. Totally makes me a crazy woman, but it was heartbreaking.

I have heard of people who know when they ovulate etc, still find that they are put back a few weeks, I've also heard that the chances of detecting a heartbeat at 6 weeks aren't high, so it really is (unfortunately) a wait and see. Unless you can nip into a private scan in the next couple of days so you know before Christmas.

Fingers crossed for you and I really hope there's a HB when you have your next scan!

Thank you for all of your comments! It really is just a waiting game was just curious to see if others had been in a similar position. What will be will be as they say. In a way I’m glad I’ve been dealt with the potential blow before I went for the 12 week scan and I’m prepared for the worse!
