I gave birth a few weeks ago and have recently found out my baby has moderate hearing loss in both ears.

I suffer from mental health issues. During my pregnancy I was screaming at the top of my lungs sometimes due to panic attacks. The screams were loud because I couldn’t control myself. Could this have caused my baby’s hearing loss?

Please help somebody?

Absolutely not. Your baby was immersed in fluid the entire time, which would have massively dampened all sound. Think how loud a leisure centre pool packed with kids is, compared to what you can hear of it while under water. In no way was this caused by you. Please be kind to yourself.

Thanks so much for your comment. I have not stopped crying for the past 2 weeks.

Can you talk to your health visitor or GP, or local mental health hub OP? Take care. You obviously love yr little baby a lot 💐

No it couldn’t have been. The swimming pool analogy is an excellent way to show why not too. Focus on that when your anxiety tries telling you differently.

Anyone else with any other advice please?

Nothing you did would have caused your baby's hearing loss - these things happen, please don't beat yourself up about it. Have you seen a specialist?

As other PPs have said, can you ask your midwife or health visitor for support with your mental health? It sounds as if you're struggling, and support is available for you. I had PND, and my health visitor was amazing. Don't struggle on your own.

Oh hun that is not the reason at all, once ur son starts to see audiology they might try and find out what was the cause. But like my son no clear reason was found his was most likely a mixture of him been premature and some anti botics he had while in nicu. It's hard at the start but there is lots of help for u and ur son.
