Can you ask to be induced?

Hi all, this is my 2nd pregnancy.

1st was induced at 38 weeks due to baby being small and other issues.. after 3 days I wasn’t progressing and had a section..

I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. I have the option of vaginal or c section.. I am being monitored for baby being smaller than first one.. but I am absolutely petrified of going past 39 weeks for other reasons.. now I’m getting closer to that I can’t even sleep or eat.. Iv got such bad anxiety about it.. I really want to try giving birth naturally before I jus go for the c section option.. if I ask my consultant would they induce me around then? Anyone been through anything similar? Thanks

@FoxtrotSkarloey

Thanks for your post, I did have a pretty good chat with my consultant at the hospital who gave me the option to have a planned section.. I need to tell them by this week if I want the planned section or not.. I really want to try have a natural birth as I am aware how lengthy the recovery is after a section..

I was induced at 38 weeks, though tbf I was suffering severe hyperemesis and my mum had just died, so I was doing extremely badly physically and mentally. I couldn't bear being pregnant any longer and begged them to induce me.

They did put me off as long as they could, it definitely wasn't something they agreed to easily, but there's no harm in asking.
