Super dizzy

Hi all, I’m 12+3 and have randomly woken up incredibly lightheaded and dizzy today. I can’t move my head without the room spinning, and I feel faint walking up and down the stairs. Has anyone had this? Should I call my midwife?

Is it just dizziness or do you have anything else going on like stomach cramps? I think dizziness in early pregnancy can be normal

LadyFoxtrot · 21/12/2020 17:57

I thing else, just dizziness, but it’s really bad- been going on all day, I feel faint everytime I walk down the stairs.

It’s been suggested it might be low blood pressure so I’ll ask them to check at my scan tomorrow I think.

Definitely get it checked, but I had this in both pregnancies and they were only bothered in so much as I may fall and hurt myself and the baby. I have low blood pressure normally but it dropped even lower whilst pregnant. I nearly fell off a hop up (low working platform about 2ft high) in early pregnancy with DD1 when a sudden dizzy spell came over me. Luckily I fell forwards against the wall instead of backwards into a heap on the floor. Work had already removed any ladder work in my risk assessment, but after that I had an apprentice assigned to me permanently so they could do any work at height whilst I directed from below.

I have low blood pressure and it happens to me. Keep blood sugars up by eating snacks or small meals regularly.

Thanks guys, I’ll call the GP tomorrow if it hasn’t gone away. Really horrible feeling, can’t even move my head without the room spinning!

I had similar, to the extent that my colleagues called 111 for me and they sent an ambulance. The paramedics decided it was hypoglycaemia since I'm diabetic; I pointed out I was only hypoglycaemic since they'd told me not to eat or drink anything even though my sugars were going low!

Turned out I was anaemic. Iron tablets and orange juice sorted it.

LadyFoxtrot · 21/12/2020 19:27

I’ll grab some orange juice right now!

My mum just dropped off her home blood pressure monitor and it’s normal so scratch that idea! I’ll call the GP tomorrow

Hi @LadyFoxtrot I had this 2 days ago, I think it was vertigo? Never had it before but I kept on walking wonky and felt like the room was moving even when sat down. I don't think it's anything to worry about provided it's not happening all the time. Mine went after that day and touch wood been OK since. But my gosh it was horrible!!

Hi I hope you ok. This happened to me at around 11 weeks, they thought it was vertigo at first but it didn't clear up, the they checked my blood pressure and concluded it was really low. I had 3 weeks off work on total bed rest and that helped. My doctor said it is just part and parcel of the first trimester and sure enough, as he predicted, it went away when I got into my second trimester.
