UTI pregnancy

Hi. I have UTI, can’t have penicillin due to an allergy. I’m 22 weeks pregnant. They have given me ertapenem through IV today and I have to
Go back in for the next 6 days for another dose each day. When I’ve read about it, it’s worried me as it says avoid in pregnancy/ no research. Anyone had this in pregnancy? Thanks x

Most medication is not advised in pregnancy. It's unethical to do blind studies on pregnant women.

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I have just finished a course of cefalexin for a bacterial infection that was found on a urine sample. Not sure if this works for a UTI as might be different but this is definitely safe in pregnancy.

Hi! Hope you’re ok. My pregnancy went really well after this and all was good. I actually didn’t have another dose of this IV antibiotic as they did another urine sample; and the infection had cleared. What antibiotics are you on? Try not to worry too much - easier said than done xx

I had lots of antibiotics due to reoccurring UTIs in my previous 2 pregnancies.
Both of my children ( 10 and 12 ) are v healthy except for having problem with their teeth enamel.
They have molar hypomineralisation which according to the dentist is due to infections and antibiotics in pregnancy

I'm 27 weeks and had cefalexin for an awful uti a few weeks ago, it did the trick

@JulietteIsabelle I had cefalexin an another one but can't remember the name. I am allergic to Peniciline so it was not amoxicilin.
