Bleeding/spotting 11+3 weeks

Hi,

Hoping someone can give me some hope. I woke up with some spotting/bleeding with mild cramps Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings. Each time it was gone by the evening and today there's been nothing so far (touch wood). EPU have booked me a scan for tomorrow but I'm convinced it's bad news. It's also difficult because where is the line drawn between spotting and bleeding? I'm dreading the outcome of tomorrow and the effects it will have on our Christmas. We're due to have our 12 week scan on Wednesday and was planning on telling family for Christmas. Has anyone experienced this that has had a positive outcome?

I had bleeding throughout my pregnancy, including a very heavy bleed at 13 weeks where I thought I was miscarrying. They never really got to the bottom of mine, but general opinion seemed to be that it could have been caused by cervical erosion, which I'd experienced before when on the pill. Baby is now a very healthy, happy toddler. My waters broke 5 weeks early, possibly due to the bleeding, but otherwise all was fine.

I hope all goes well with your scan, OP. I totally understand the fear and distress you must be feeling. Look after yourself and I really hope everything works out OK for you. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Thank you @toastfiend. I suppose the good thing is that I'm expecting the worst so should it be good news, it'll be a surprise rather than thinking it'll be okay and it isn't.

I hope everything went OK today @SamT210. No need to update if you don't want to, obviously, but just wanted to let you know I've been thinking of you today.

Thanks @toastfiend everything's completely fine, no explanation for the bleeding suppose it's just one of those things. Hope it doesn't happen again!

Hi @SamT210 I'm experiencing the same thing so was looking for a bit of advice, I've had some really pale pink/orange spotting, only when I wipe 2 days ago and it happened today as well. I had a scan at 10 weeks and all fine and I'm having another scan Thursday. What I want to ask was the spotting similar? Mine was pink/orange and pale and I'm having very mild cramps now and again x

SamT210 · 27/12/2020 07:24

Hi @rbetty mine started off pink but though out each morning became red. If yours is only pink that's a good thing. My midwife wasn't worried until I told her it had turned red then she referred me to EPU. Even still everything is fine now. The bleeding was just unexplained. Sorry I can't be of more help, have you called your midwife? X

@SamT210 thank you, yes that does help, yes I rang my midwife and she's said unless it's red and filling a pad then to keep an eye. I think I just over done it by picking my nephew up as he is quite heavy. Just got to wait till thurs now. Thank you again for your help xx

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, spotting in first 12 weeks is common with no issues. Hope Thursday goes okay x

@SamT210 glad to hear everything seems fine!

@rbetty I am having similar I think to you tonight.. Freaking out a bit. Went to bathroom after dinner and had very very pale pink discharge when I wiped. Sorry if tmi. I think I'm about 10 weeks haven't had a scan yet.
I don't know what to expect now, had 3 mmc before last pregnancy with ds who is now 2.5.
I haven't even had my booking appointment so don't even have a midwife yet

rbetty · 27/12/2020 23:48

@Smurf123 maybe give your docs a ring? You should have a call from your midwife by now for the booking appointment. I only had a scan at 10 weeks as I thought I was further along than I was.
I'm trying not to think too much into the spotting as my 10 week scan showed a heartbeat and she said it was all looking ok, so my 12 week scan is Thursday. Just hoping for the best!
I would deffo give them a ring tomorrow hun just to put your mind at rest.
