Pregnancy test lines

So I’m probably being a hypochondriac but I found out I was pregnant last week and my test lines got progressively darker each day however, today, the line is slightly lighter (still dark but not as dark) So I’m freaking out. I haven’t had any bleeding or pain or anything like that. Please tell me this is normal...

@NikkiD88 how many dpo are you? X

NikkiD88 · 20/12/2020 10:40

19 DPO I think, I got my first positive on Monday. Tuesdays was kinda faint still then I did one pretty much every day since and they got darker and darker, but this morning it’s not as dark as yesterday. Just really frightened, I’ve already had an ectopic and 2 miscarriages as well as 2 healthy pregnancies so I’m just a little all over the place

Chill!!

Easier said than done but tests all don’t necessarily have the same amount of dye. You’ll drive yourself crazy.

@NikkiD88
You poor thing. I've not had a miscarriage so goodness knows how you're feeling right now. But it's normal at this early stage for your lines to be different: not taking them at the exact time, or did you go for a wee in the night to make this one diluted. There's loads of reasons.
I got a solid dark line on a cheap stick and ClearBlue was barely there. In fact clear blue only gave me a thick line 7 days after the cheap one.
You also might have ovulated later (despite what an ovulation stick said).
Testing every day is a waste of money. Give it three days, then test again. At least then you'll have something more concrete xx

Lots of non sinister reasons this could be happening. There is a certain point when hcg gets too high and messes with the tests. I tested for about three weeks straight and I think it was the second or third week they started going lighter. I diluted with water and dark lines returned.

You only need one positive test to know you're pregnant. Repeat testing isn't necessary, it will drive you bonkers!

NikkiD88 · 20/12/2020 12:39

Adding this in so you can see, I'm probably just being really silly but I know how helpful the people on here can be.

And yea I agree I absolutely need to stop testing because I do just wind myself up :(

Stop testing. You're definitely pregnant. Those lines are getting progressively darker and if the bottom one is the teeniest bit lighter it could be because you drank more water before taking the test

secretsnowsquirrel · 20/12/2020 15:14

Agree with everyone else. Stop testing. The tests aren’t meant to be used quantitatively to determine hormone levels. So stop else you will send yourself crazy. Only blood tests should be used for monitoring hCG. This is why I prefer the digital tests, less prone to user overanalysis and consequent anxiety.
