Pregnancy Test confusion

Hi everyone

I took a First Response pregnancy test in the early hours of Thursday morning which came out positive. Taken another this morning, also First Response, and it’s negative. I have read that these tend to be the most accurate tests but I have been left royally confused!
Do you have any advice or has something similar happened to you?

Are you very early? Mine were all over the place at first. Just can depend on how diluted your urine is etc.

Wait a couple of days and do another one.

Try not to read top much into it.
Good luck, I'm sure it's just not picked it up.

littleeggcup · 20/12/2020 09:20

All my tests have been stronger with second morning wee! Not sure why!

mollieangel123 · 20/12/2020 09:23

I used to use these and had nothing but confusion I feel the best ones are the strip tests there so accurate! Maybe give them ago good luck ☺️☺️ xx

Welshgirl1192 · 20/12/2020 09:29

@HooverWhenTheCoastIsClear yes, I believe I’m only around 5/6 weeks if I am pregnant - I may try the strip tests as @mollieangel123 has suggested.
Why can’t all pregnancy tests just be 100% accurate eh?! 😂

I wonder why that is @littleeggcup? Do you think I should try again later today?

🤣🤣🤣 I know.
To reassure you, I peed on loads and some barely worked, some were strong, the next day it looked weaker...i was driving myself mad.
I'm 3mths now.
I'd wait a few days. Easier said than done.
You don't usually get false positive so I'd say you are pregnant.
It's hard when it's really early days.

Without meaning to sound like a wet blanket, this is typical with a chemical pregnancy and you may find your period starts soon - I hope I'm wrong though but please do prepare yourself Thanks

Welshgirl1192 · 20/12/2020 10:01

@HooverWhenTheCoastIsClear that does make me feel a bit better, I’ll wait and try again in a few days. I’m worrying that maybe I had an early miscarriage that may have been picked up as a pregnancy a few days ago, but now HCG levels may have dropped off? But who knows... I’ll take your advice and try again though. Thank you very much for being so helpful.

@CatholicKidston you don’t at all, this thought has been in my mind all morning. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

Iv had a few chemical pregnancies and it doesn't work that quick there would still be some sort of line there in my experiences anyway I'd personally request a blood test from your doctor to rule it out ☺️ hope things are okay and you get the answer your wanting xx

Welshgirl1192 · 20/12/2020 10:13

@mollieangel123 hmmm it’s all so confusing isn’t it! I think I’ll do what you’ve suggested, and get the strip tests, then try again in the morning - and then call the doctor to see what they say? Thank you, I am ok just very confused at the moment - I just wish a test gave you a definitive answer 😂🤷🏼‍♀️🙈 xx

I know it's so confusing and so frustrating isn't it! It drove me insane keep us updated ☺️ xx

TisTheSeasonToEatLots · 20/12/2020 10:46

If you are 5/6 weeks pregnant you’d be 1-2 weeks late for your period, I’d expect to see a much much darker line by now. Your positive test looks very early, maybe your wee is just more dilute? I’d leave it a few days and retest, I would be contacting a gp having had 1 faint positive test.

TisTheSeasonToEatLots · 20/12/2020 10:48

*wouldn’t be contacting a gp that should say!

Welshgirl1192 · 20/12/2020 11:30

@TisTheSeasonToEatLots what would you suggest I do? Completely understand what you’re saying but I keep looking up “false positives” online and I don’t think I fit into any of the given reasons. I almost want to call the GP for a qualified opinion on the matter, pregnant or not if that makes sense, as I am so confused at the moment 😂

Took another test this morning which was also definitely negative. Think I may have had a chemical pregnancy... we weren’t even planning children so I don’t know why I’m so sad! But thank you all for being so helpful.

Oh I'm sorry op. I know you say you weren't planning but you're obviously upset.

Give it a few days and if no period test again.
Hope you're ok x

mollieangel123 · 21/12/2020 12:33

I'm so sorry 😔 sending you hugs xxx
