Sharp upper back pain 1st trimester?

Hi guys, I'm 11+6 weeks pregnant and I woke up this morning with sharp upper back pain on the left near the shoulder blades. Is this normal or should I be worried?

I have had private early scans before and everything looked fine, but is sharp back pain this early on in the pregnancy a sign of things going wrong?

I had this later in pregnancy - I imagine it’s your shifting centre of gravity irritating some of your muscles further up. Everything is shifting. I’d really recommend pre-pregnancy Pilates. Lynne Robinson has a book with exercises if classes are unavailable online or in person

It can a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Was it a private reassurance scan or an NHS diagnosist scan?

If you've had reassurance scans and everything was fine then zero chance it's ectopic 🤷‍♀️ - it would have been seen long before now.

I had this and it's just changing pressure on the body as you get bigger

They were private scans and everything was developing normally thankfully! Otherwise I would have definitely worried about it being an ectopic!

I was worried about it being a sign of miscarriage :(

I’ll defer to other people about specific symptoms but I think it’s also likely that your ligaments getting stretchier is having a knock-on effect...

@GlasgwegianMama

I had a bad back around the same time and it's just from lying in awkward positions trying to get comfy in bed I think and change In centre of gravity (although I'm having twins so extra strain on body) - miscarriage symptoms would be more like low cramping in your uterus or spotting x
