uterine dopplers demonstrate high resistance?

Hi everyone. Today I went for my second growth scan. I am 31 weeks and 5 days. The sonographer/midwife said I have uterine dopplers demonstrate high resistance" ( a high blood flow through the umbilical cord in the 95th centile.

I have another scan Xmas Eve and have to see my consultant. Have anyone been through this before? Can anyone explain more to be about this please?

Thank you xx

Hi, I’m 35 weeks and had the same thing on Tuesday, I’m back again Monday to get it checked again. They didn’t tell me any readings or anything and just said not to worry which is easier said than done! My baby’s growth has actually increased so they think it might just be a one off as baby was wriggling loads while they tried to get readings and sonographer thought it could be grabbing the cord! How has your baby’s growth been? I think it just means they keep a closer eye on us and if growth starts to falter they’ll look at delivering earlier. From reading I’ve done it might not cause any problems at all so whilst baby is growing and moving loads I’m trying not to worry. Sorry I can’t be more technical, I was a bit in the dark myself and didn’t ask as many questions as I wish I had!

I think it means your placenta is having to work extra harder than it should. My baby until last week was under the 10th centile and luckily had a growth spurt. But had to have the same tests done x

Thank you both so much for your comments 💞, I’ve googled and googled but can’t really find anything about it other than research from university’s.

Yes it is hard not to worry, specially not knowing the unknown and having to wait for next scans.

Lib3rtine I hope your scan went well today and I hope everything is okay.

My baby’s weight is always on the lowest line but not underweight, he’s just at the lighter side. Only thing sonographer really said was I must keep track off his movements, anything less then I have to go straight to triage to be checked over to make sure he is okay 💙. Xx

@Hay101Mo hi, I had my scan this morning and blood flow was absolutely fine so last week was just a one off thankfully. Back again next week to check on growth. Hope your scan goes well on Christmas Eve and the high resistance was just a one off like mine xx

Thank you! Yep, they’ve been so thorough, the care I’m having is excellent which is great as my anxiety is terrible! Yes, let us know how you get on, got everything crossed for you xx

Sorry for the late reply!
So pleased to here they’re taking great care off you! At my scan the Doppler were still raised. Yesterday baby’s movements had changed and slowed down although still moving ( he’s normally a very very active baby ) when to triage and they gave me a steroid injection. I have to go back today for another one, then on monitor Monday then Tuesday to have another scan and see my consultant to put a plan in place for early birth. I’m truly devastated but whatever is best for our little boy we will do 💙

Hi, really sorry to hear that but it does sound like you’re getting good care and in good hands. Try not to worry, I know it’s easy for me to say but they are monitoring you and will make sure you and baby are both fine. Its been picked up and you’ll have a plan on Tuesday, which is great. I think problems only arise when it’s not picked up so try to look at it that way. Keep us updated xx
