Hello!

I have a large fundal fibroid sitting at the top of my womb, it's around 12 X 12 X 10cm, so saw an obstetrician as it's pretty massive. She then went on to list all the extra precautions and complications including the fact that I will probably lose lot of blood, possible blood transfusion needed and then most importantly, she said it will be painful especially during the third trimester when the baby grows, so competition for room. Has anybody had experience of this?

Hi I have many fibroids and one pretty big one. They bothered me in my very first pregnancy,it was painful to even walk this was around 20 weeks. In my second pregnancy they didn't bother me at all,no pain what so ever!My DD had her own space and the fibroid had its own!
Just because you have fibroids,it doesn't mean they will always cause problems!Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

@AllDressedUpForMyselfOnly what kind of pain was it? The doc said something similar to a stabbing / shooting pain, and was it constant?

It was more like a stabbing pain.I dont remember it being constant though.I did find it hard to walk. Please dont worry about it now though, you might not even have any problems! As I said before,my fibroids did not cause me any problems at all in my second pregnancy!

Hi,

I was wondering how you've got on with your pregnancy? I had my first scan today and have been told i have a fundal pedunculated fibroid measuring similar size to yours 10cm x 10cm x 7.5cm, i left feeling very anxious :-(. Hope you are doing well.

Hello, I was diagnosed with a fibroid st 8wks it was 9.5cm, didn't grow during pregnancy, only caused pain at 8wks. I was told all the risks, miscarriage, pre term labour bleeding etc I went to 41wks, no sweeps, no induction, gave birth in 4.5hrs start to finish, naturally and managed to avoid hormone drip after birth as my blood loss was ok. My fibroid was at the top left of womb so uncomfortable by stomach at times but that was just space to eat, not painful. Hope that helps you. Stay positive!

I have a large fibroid too to one side. It was monitored during my first pregnancy to check it didn’t grow too large and be considered to cause issues during labour as you’ve suggested above. I had some extra scans but eh growth settled and it didn’t cause any issues.
Barley even been mentioned this time around…

Thank you, this is really helpful and has put my mind at rest. I know it's Drs job to tell us worse case scenario but they put so much fear in to me. This is my 2nd pregnancy, very lucky with first with no complications and completely natural birth, so this time has come as a shock. Have you now had the fibroid removed?

Thank you, i appreciate this, honestly these responses have helped ease my mind. Mine in fundal pedunculated to the right. We have three extra scans to keep an eye on it.

I was told they wouldn't look at removal until I was done having children, I am on the fibroid Facebook group and people that have severe symptoms like bleeding etc struggle to have them removed!
