First time pregnancy cramping

Hi, I have been having period pains for 4 weeks with no period. I had a positive pregnancy test a few days ago so I must only be about 3-4 weeks pregnant as my last period was end of November. My cramping is constant and there all the time, I wouldn’t say the cramps are severe just persistent and uncomfortable and I’m very aware they are there. Please can anyone let me know if they have experienced anything similar to this? I phoned the doctors and they said I would have to wait at least 6-8 weeks before I could have a scan as nothing will show this early, she did seem a bit concerned about the cramping but said to only call back if they get any worse or if I have any bleeding. Please can anyone help? Feeling really worried about it and like something bad might happen at the moment :( any advice appreciated. Thank you xx

I feel the same, it feels like my period is going to come at any moment. Hopefully other people can share their experiences with us. I don’t want to get excited yet as I’m worried something is wrong.

I dont think something is wrong cramps are normal especially with the first baby. I had very bad cramps with my firts one and i even had a period and she is 14 years old now. But since its been 14years since a positive pregnancy test im a bit worried with everything i feel try not worry to much

Hey, this is very normal and only a cause for concern if it's accompanied by bleeding (and even then it can be harmless - happened to me in my last pregnancy).

I normally spend a couple weeks feeling like my period is coming any minute. x

I had this for the first 10 weeks, it was normal x

I had this with bouts of severe cramping. I called the Early Pregnancy Unit to check in with them, and they basically said if there's no blood not to worry, but to call of anything changed.

I found heat packs (hot water bottles/wheat bags) an absolute saviour! Currently 20 weeks pregnant and it eased off at around 11-12 weeks, just the occasional cramp now and then.

This is exactly what I had for the first 4 or 5 weeks. Dull period like cramping is totally normal, it’s just your uterus stretching, growing and preparing for the baby.

Thank you for all your replies, it has made me feel a lot better! I will try a hot water bottle and hopefully all is well on my first scan :)
