Im currently pregnant with dc4 and i had some spotting so i got a blood test which came back at ten thousand at 5-4 wks. Ive been booked in for a scan tomorrow as she said its quite high. Anyone else ?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ive never had my levels checked in my pregnancies but that does sound high! It's a good sign though, do you have any family history of twins?

Meowmeow2020 · 17/12/2020 13:16

No twins

High levels can sometimes indicate an ectopic pregnancy or a molar pregnancy which is why they will be checking.

It can also just be normal in pregnancy 🙂 mine were 5790 at 4 weeks ( we did IVF so you have them checked )

My hcg levels were 96,000 at 6.5 weeks! Had a healthy baby girl.

Are you 100% certain of your dates? I had to go to hospital with heavy bleeding when I thought I was 6 weeks and I think my HCG levels were 140,000 or so. Turns out I was actually 9 weeks pregnant (and had mistaken implantation bleeding for a light period or something).
However, as this is your 4th, I guess you might know how your body responds better than I as a FTM so might not mistake things like I did!
Fingers crossed there's a positive reason for the high HCG.

Your levels are typical for this gestation. Quite in the middle range.

Mine were at 6+2 35607 & 6+4 54365. I had twins.

Good luck for your scan

Rtmhwales · 17/12/2020 16:43

My first healthy pregnancy at 5-6 weeks was in the 80,000 range. I just lost a second at 6+4 that was 79,500. So I think they're in the normal range. Nobody's ever been concerned that mine are fairly high. The numbers have a huge range. I do tend to get raging morning sickness though and twins get bandied about but both were singleton pregnancies.

This might help!

High hcg levels

I wonder why she seemed so keen to get me in. Anyway i will know more tomorrow but early scans tend to be hit and miss in my experience

You'll definitely see something on the scan with that hcg level! 1500 to see a gestational sac

SunnySideUp2020 · 17/12/2020 20:42

I had 19000 at 5w3 and one baby, all good.
Nobody expressed any concern either ...
It's High but not abnormal!

Meowmeow2020 · 18/12/2020 11:51
