Opinions on scan- 3 recurrent miscarriages

Hi all, I’ve had 3 recurrent miscarriages this year and am currently pregnant again (7w4d). I’ve booked a scan for the 21st of December when I should be 8w2d. My reasons for this is previous miscarriages were missed miscarriages and we didn’t find out for quite some time after and it’s around this time our previous baby’s heartbeats stopped. So I thought booking a scan would be a good idea to give me peace of mind. However I’m now realising how close it is to Christmas and worried of it is bad news it will ruin Christmas for me. So my question is what would you do? Go on the 21st or wait until after Christmas? To be honest I think I’m going to worry either way 😩

Aw so sorry to hear about your losses. To be honest, I would go, as you will worry anyway. Really best of luck to you xx

I think you should go. You’ll be worrying about it so you’ll likely not enjoy Christmas anyway.

If it makes you feel any better I've had 3 miscarriages and our dd, and am now 20 weeks expecting our second 😊. Its really scary I know how you feel.

@cretelover I’m sorry for your losses it’s so shit isn’t it?
Congratulations on your dd and Current pregnancy too! Can I ask did you do anything differently? I’m taking progesterone suppositories and aspirin this time x

I would go if I were you. The not knowing is way worse. My very first pregnancy ended with a mmc at 11 weeks. I had an inkling for about two or three weeks that things just didn't feel right. I took progesterone suppositories on my next pregnancy and I have a healthy eight year old now. Best of luck.

I'm so sorry for your losses, OP. I think you should go to the scan, as it is best to know what is happening. I really hope that it is good news for you.

cretelover · 16/12/2020 20:52

Sorry I don't know how to reply to particular message on the app, thank you, no didn't do anything different this time, nothing was mentioned but maybe because the other miscarriages were earlier. This time I wasn't going to have an early scan then booked a same day one at 11 weeks as I just couldn't wait another week for the NHS one! I really wish you all the best, please let us know how you get on xx

cretelover · 16/12/2020 20:53

Sorry for your loss too Sparky

Honestly you're going to worry either way and if you don't go you'll just spend Xmas stressed out to the Max and not enjoy it anyway. I'd go on the 21st - as awful as it sounds though if it's bad news can you have plans in place to scale back Xmas to take time to deal with the news without having to put a brave face on to family on Xmas day? X

Sallyjo27 · 18/12/2020 13:44

Hi all thank you for your support I managed to book an earlier scan today and it confirmed my worries. I’ve had another missed miscarriage x
