So I'm 29 weeks pregnant, and I have eaten gluten in something I thought was gluten free!
I have also it in something around a month ago.
Has anyone else had similar? It wouldn't affect the baby would it 😫😫

Why would it?

Scottishskifun · 14/12/2020 17:38

Are you a celiac?
If so then you will know you get less nutrient absorption if you have gluten but given its 2 things I very much doubt it and you will still be taking vitamins for baby. Its more a case of you having a bit of a small nutrient dip.

If your not celiac then it's not an issue at all.

What?

Audreyseyebrows · 14/12/2020 18:01

It’s fine op. Hope you aren’t too unwell with it.

slipperywhensparticus · 14/12/2020 18:03

No mine was fine of course I had an outraged stomach for a day or two but baby was fine

@passthemustard

What?
Glutened is a term used by coeliacs to describe the affect of gluten, which they have an autoimmune reaction to, when they eat it accidentally.

It used in the same way as 'poisoned' as that's what it feels like.

OP you will be fine, as a one off it won't harm the baby at this stage in your pregnancy, hope you feel better soon!

JacobReesMogadishu · 14/12/2020 18:10

Baby will be fine. Wish you a quick recovery, I know dd is quite wiped out after being glutened.

MyBabyBoyBlue · 14/12/2020 18:12

Hi OP, I'm a coeliac and got glutened during my first pregnancy at around 30 weeks - apart from feeling grim for a few days, everything was fine. My doctor at the time told me that accidental infrequent glutenings wouldn't affect the baby. Just drink lots of fluids to flush your system and keep up with your vitamins to help offset any malabsorption.

RagamuffinCat · 14/12/2020 18:15

It wasn't Schar curvies crisps was it? I reacted horribly to those, as if I had been glutened, was very odd.

It won't impact on the baby, so please don't worry about that.

Thankyou for all your responses! Yes I was diagnosed with coeliacs around April time! Have been fairly strict with everything, but only happened twice during my pregnancy, it probably is a silly question to ask but as a new coeliac I don't know any of the effects 🤦🏻‍♀️ and was obviously just worrying, but hopefully I will just feel awful myself the next couple of days! Feel groggy already 🙄 luckily I have taken the pregnacare the whole way so far so hopefully won't deprive him or myself of anything really! X

People with coeliac all react differently. My daughter is very sick 2 to 3 hours after having gluten and then is very sleep. You will get to know your body and pick up the signs! Baby will be fine don't worry.
