Hello Everyone!

Okay so I’m a FTM to be so everything is all new and to me.
I have my 12 week dating scan on Wednesday to see how far along I really am so currently I would count as 12w 2d however compared to other women my stomach is so small considering I am classed as slightly underweight (I’m 5’2 - 8 stone)
I feel like I’m really around 9-10 weeks when I go for the scan we shall see Grin
To you is my stomach starting to form or is it just bloat?

If that was covered up, l would never know. Congratulations xx

SunnySideUp2020 · 14/12/2020 11:28

I wouldn't say you look pregnant.
But then again ftm don't look pregnant until later towards 20w.
You look absolutely fine! Don't worry!

Opticabbage · 14/12/2020 11:29

Yes that's a little baby bump. Your uturus only comes up and out of your pelvis at around 12 weeks, which it looks like yours has.

luxxlisbon · 14/12/2020 11:37

Honestly you don't look ridiculously small for 12 weeks. The vast majority of women barely show at that stage.

Are you basing the 9 weeks purely off how your stomach looks?

ShalomToYouJackie · 14/12/2020 11:39

Most first time mums don't have a bump until about 20 weeks. I didn't have a bump at all at 12 weeks. It'll be bloat then as the bloat dissappears a bump will appear

namechange202086 · 14/12/2020 11:41

The baby is absolutely tiny at this point so it's not unusual not to be showing until much later.

8 stone at 5 foot 2 isn't classed as underweight.

SpamIAm · 14/12/2020 11:44

For a first pregnancy I'd say it's after 20 weeks before anyone else would identify your bump as a baby bump. I could see a change from about 14 weeks but it wouldn't have been obvious to anyone else. Second baby is a whole different kettle of fish 😂

Fwiw you have a little bump but that could just as easily be the shape of your tummy naturally if that's where you carry your weight 🤷‍♀️

LittleTiger007 · 14/12/2020 11:53

You look just right for 12 weeks. Give it another month and you will probably be showing. I’m 17 weeks and can still hide my bump.

shelbyrae · 14/12/2020 12:02

yeah that looks right to me, especially as a ftm you don't normally really show until around 16/20 weeks. it'll happen!

UnicornAndSparkles · 14/12/2020 12:05

Every bump is different! Nothing to worry about.

All those saying ftm don't show until closer to 20 wks is a sweeping generalisation that is grossly unhelpful! Pregnant bodies are all different.

FassbendersWife · 14/12/2020 12:14

I definitely showed before 20 weeks as a slim FTM. You look perfect, enjoy!

Luckyelephant1 · 14/12/2020 12:27

I'm 5'3 and 8.5 stone so not too dissimilar (you are not underweight by the way) and I look similar to you except more flabby as I carry all my weight on my belly anyway.

I'm a couple of weeks behind you though, but I don't think it's a bump just yet, for me I will start thinking of it as a bump rather than just bloat when my belly starts to go taut.

FoodandFelines · 14/12/2020 12:29

You look exactly like I did on the morning of my 12 week scan (also a FTM and they put me 5 days ahead, not behind, of my estimated dates). I think the baby is responsible for the slight angling outwards of the lowest part of your abdomen (basically, around your knicker line). As someone else mentioned above, the top of your uterus only just about rises out of your pelvis at 12 weeks. Anything else is bloat, which is very common and will slowly subside and be replaced by the baby bump. But keep in mind that different women show at different stages (even FTMs, and even women of a similar pre-pregnancy size), so it's best not to compare yourself to anyone else.

BiscuitDrama · 14/12/2020 12:31

I think at the beginning it is just bloat but that’s ok?

Did you mean your weight is seven stone? Actually you look perfectly healthy, I think you’re probably eight stone but just got it wrong about being underweight.

rottiemum88 · 14/12/2020 12:45

@luxxlisbon

This.

I'm slightly taller at 5'4" and was around a stone heavier than you when I fell pregnant, but I didn't have a "bump" like yours until I was around 21 weeks.

Hunnihun2 · 14/12/2020 13:02

No you don’t look pregnant perhaps you would assumed you had just eaten a meal. With a top on there’s not much to notice.

You are quite tiny anywhere and if it’s your first you tend to carry tiny for longer.

NoGinNotComingIn · 14/12/2020 13:32

You’ve got a much bigger bump than I had at 12 weeks with my first, there was literally nothing there for me. I was tiny pre-pregnancy and v toned so it just didn’t pop out for a long time. Even at 28 weeks I didn’t look pregnant, I went to my brothers wedding and there’s literally nothing there and I was wearing a fitted dress. I went for countless growth scans because my bump was so small, the baby was fine and was born 7lb at 39 weeks. On the plus side it did mean that I was back to my normal size within about 6weeks! I’m 30 weeks into my 3rd pregnancy now, not as small this time unfortunately.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/12/2020 13:34

Well everyone's bumps are different. With my first, I didn't look pregnant at that stage. Didnt really show anything until about 16 weeks or later. On the third now and has a "bump" at 9 weeks.

Turtleturtle81 · 14/12/2020 13:37

You don’t look pregnant, but most people don’t at 12 weeks, especially first time mums. I didn’t show until around 24 weeks. You look like me when I was 12 weeks.

Girlmum91 · 16/12/2020 12:32

I wouldn't know you were pregnant. Just looks a bit untoned. Totally normal for a first pregnancy :)

Ro198 · 16/12/2020 12:36

It would be bloat still at 12 weeks. I am heavier than you (9.5 stone and 5’9) and I started to get a bump at 16 weeks which was still quite small. I’m 21 weeks now and can still wear my normal clothes.

MotherToBee · 16/12/2020 13:39

Hello everybody!
I really do appreciate all the replies that you have given me Grin

I’ve had my first scan today I sit at 13w exactly today.

ApplestheHare · 16/12/2020 13:41

I'm a similar size to you and didn't have any bump until about 18 weeks so I wouldn't worry. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Flowers

SendHelp30 · 16/12/2020 13:41

I would say that’s quite big for 13 weeks personally but I was always told I carried small. I didn’t have any bump with any of them until around 20 weeks. It’s probably just bloat.

SendHelp30 · 16/12/2020 13:43

Also, don’t worry about being underweight; you’re definitely not! I’m the same height and the healthy range starts from 7 stone 9.
You’re perfectly healthy x
