Hi there. I am 16 weeks pregnant in a few days and have had hot baths throughout my pregnancy (not scorching) but hot, is this ok or has this done any harm to my baby? First time Mum so this is all new to me

I asked my midwife about this and she said the hot bath advice is because being too hot can raise your blood pressure and make you feel a bit dizzy. It doesn’t harm your baby. I’d say don’t go too hot, and if you start feeling a bit funny get out and cool down x

I've asked this through both pregnancies and was told to keep baths around 37-38 degrees on the basis that they didn't want to raise my core temperature in a sweltering hot bath as the baby couldn't regulate their own temperature. I actually found that I didn't mind it around 37-38 though I did love that first properly hot bath after delivery!

They didn't say it would do any harm, think they just erred on the side of caution.

I love baths always have done and love a nice hot bath. Obviously not skin red sweating hot though. When I was pregnant I had no idea the advice was not to have a hot bath and I had loads! My ds was fine so try not to worry, just have them abit cooler from now on
