So I had a chemical pregnancy in October... I fell pregnant again in November. Had multiple scans and blood tests. There was something seen in the scan in the womb but not convincing enough for the dr to not believe it was ectopic. My levels are rising not doubling but close to doubling every 48hrs, I’m now above 3500 Hgc they did a laparoscopy yesterday to check for ectopic. No ectopic found so I’ll have another hgc blood test next Thursday. Has anyone had this? Just early or something else? I’ve had no bleeding or pain. My chemical was only 8 weeks ago so maximum I could be is between 4-6 weeks

Hi OP,

I have experienced EXACTLY this. In October last year I found out I was pregnant and had a scan at about 6 weeks that found something but they weren't sure what and couldn't call it a definite gestational sac so it was called a pregnancy of unknown location. My HCG was doubling every 48 hours and got really high and they were concerned it was an ectopic so I had a laparoscopy and when I woke up they said it wasn't ectopic.

HCG continued to rise then my scans after showed a sac that was growing but empty and it was called a Blighted Ovum, they diagnosed this at I think 8 weeks for me. This is usually diagnosed when the sac reaches a certain size with no contents seen or your HCG is a certain level with no pregnancy seen in womb.

It's really awful but unfortunately really common, I see posts nearly every day on here about it. Majority of women go on to have a successful pregnancy after (I'm now 19 weeks).

Of course it might not be this, that was just my experience. I hope you get some answers really soon and sending lots of love xx

Also just seen you're around 4-6 weeks so every chance you're just too early to see anything x

Thank you! I’m so nervous for the blood test on Thursday in case they’ve done something to affect the pregnancy!
