Hiya, I'm 5 weeks this week , first pregnancy. I have informed my doctor and he referred me last week to antenatal at the hospital.

I was wondering when they'd contact me? Would I be contacted in this next few weeks with an appointment ? Would they then refer me for the scan? How does it all work. Sorry if it's a silly question I really have no clue, & am slightly terrified.

Thank you

Congrats!!
So you normally having booking appointment around 8/9 weeks where they do bloods etc and at that appointment they tell you if your 12 week scan is booked. You most likely won't hear for another few weeks just yet! Hope this helps. Xx

Thank you! That helps :)

Will they post me an appointment? Or do they call to schedule one?

Bit unsure with all the COVID changes now

@Tinkerbellxox I got a letter in the post.

@Tinkerbellxox it varies. Mine actually whatsapp messaged me to arrange the telephone booking appointment which I found strange! Had booking apt at 8 weeks, bloods and urine taken a few days after and had a letter the other day confirming my 12 week scan (I'm 10 weeks today BTW). The first few weeks really are just a waiting game, it's a bit of an anticlimax after getting the BFP because in our eyes our whole world has just changed but during this time no one else really cares yet!

Oh a WhatsApp message that's unusual ... You're right I just can't stop thinking about it but it's happened since the beginning of time so it's nothing unusual but I just want to feel different ... I think waiting for that first appointment and scan is going to really drag! X

Hey,
I phoned my doctors and let them know and they said midwife would call me in a week. Midwife called and arranged my booking in appointment for the following Monday. Booking appointment was at the go clinic and involved urine sample, bloods and weight. Then midwife called me that afternoon to go through all the questions such as family medical history. After that, I was booked for my 12 week scan (which ended up being an 8 week scan 😂) The sonographer booked my 12 week at the end of the 8 week scan. Had my 12 week scan this morning and they said I will receive a letter for my 20 week.
Hope that makes sense and helps. I think it’s all slightly different with Covid at the moment and definitely varies depending on where you are.
