Hi everyone,

I am 5 weeks pregnant today. I feel pregnant naturally after 3.5 years of trying and 3 failed IVF attempts and save to say i'm losing my mind. I am so worried that something will go wrong. I just don't know how to relax. I have an early pregnancy scan on 31st December when I will be 8 weeks, that seems like a lifetime away. I am also getting bloods done tomorrow and Monday but I am scared of the results. Can anyone relate to this, i'd love to speak with people at the same stage / in the same boat? xxxx

@Miraclerainbow it's funny you should say that because I feel worse on weekends too. Yesterday I was completely wiped out! Maybe it's a psychological thing?! Or maybe just tired after a long week?!

Symptoms are ok - just really tired and peeing lots! I'm not feeling sick at all, which I'm not going to take for granted! How about you?

I’m only feeling sick sometimes mainly on weekends. When I do eat sometimes I feel like I want to throw it up but just not physically sick.

I think in the week I’m to busy to think about feeling sick 😂 I’m definitely more hungry though! I’m eating lots 🙈🙈

When is your 12 week scan? Mines not until Feb 20! I’m counting down the days! X

Daffodil21 · 24/01/2021 11:25

@Miraclerainbow Mine's 4th Feb so not tooo much longer but I bet it's going to drag!

I've put on so much weight already, almost a stone. I'm taking prednisolone and progesterone, both of which can increase your weight (and pred increases appetite) so it's basically a losing battle which I'm not willing to fight! I hate the way I look right now, I've got an extra chin and I've got a 'moonface' which is also typical of taking pred, but it's a small price to pay and hopefully it'll be worth it in the end!
Do you have any cravings or food you can't eat? I don't, I just want to eat everything 😂

I feel like I haven’t put on any weight at the moment! I probably soon will though from how much I’m eating 😂

I’ve gone of cauliflower, gammon and I can’t have chicken on it’s own I just have to have it mixed in with something like pasta. I’m loving marmite at the moment and I craved sweet and sour pork for ages but as soon as I had it I felt sick 😂 funny how our bodies react!

I was so concerned I wasn’t getting many symptoms but the hospital checked baby and it’s doing well with a strong heartbeat. She said that some people just don’t get many symptoms. Maybe we are just the lucky ones! For now..... we will be back on here soon probably complaining of more symptoms that have suddenly shown up! 😆 x

Miraclerainbow · 24/01/2021 11:33

*will soon though

Daffodil21 · 24/01/2021 11:44

@Miraclerainbow marmite is meant to be really good for pregnant women as it has lots of b vits apparently, so that's a good one to crave!

I was worried I haven't had any sickness either, but I had a scan last week that showed everything looking as it should, and my friend who has a little girl said she had no sickness at all throughout her pregnancy, so hopefully we're just lucky...

That’s so reassuring that you and your friend haven’t got any sickness either and I’m not the only one!

I’ve been getting back ache but I’ve got a retroved uterus so I think that puts added pressure onto the back during pregnancy.

I haven’t really had any tiredness yet just a big patch of acne across my Face!! This, the slight nausea and back aches are the only symptoms I’ve had really. I’ve been peeing allot more at night but that’s it. I hope I get more in the next couple weeks. I don’t know why we say this but I guess it’s just a little reassurance! X

Daffodil21 · 24/01/2021 11:53

@Miraclerainbow have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your knees? I often get lower back pain and have mild scoliosis/a slightly rotated pelvis and ever since I starts sleeping with a pillow between my knees it's massively improved.

I've got acne over my face and down my neck too. Also need to get up 4 times a night to pee!

Miraclerainbow · 24/01/2021 12:02

I haven’t tried the pillow thing! Sounds like a good idea if it’s helped you! Thank you.

Have you been following a strict healthy diet? I have been terrible lately with sugary forks but today I said to myself I need to stop 😂 see how long it lasts! I’ve been eating lots of fruit and veg though for breakfast and dinner so it’s not all bad! There’s so many things they say you can’t eat and it’s been making me really anxious but I think most stuff is okay just not lots of seafood, stuff like that. How have you been? My anxiety has been through the roof x

Miraclerainbow · 24/01/2021 12:02

*sugary foods 😂

Daffodil21 · 24/01/2021 12:41

@Miraclerainbow It's honestly made such a difference!

I haven't been following a strict diet as such but I'm trying to limit sugar a bit, because I think I have PCOS. I do have something sweet every day still though, I just don't have as much as I would have before! I'm trying to generally eat healthily but if I have the odd pizza or something for dinner I don't beat myself up over it.

I've just been avoiding soft cheeses (I prefer hard anyway), buying lion stamped eggs, and not eating cured meats unless I cook them. I still eat things like prawns though (I'm having them for lunch today 😋) I basically just stick to the nhs website guidance.

Right there with you on the anxiety. Tomorrow I'm 11 weeks (assuming all is still week) and I honestly can't fathom how that has happened. I'm already bricking it about the next scan, and I just can't see how this pregnancy will end in a baby. This is the furthest by far that we have ever gotten though (by over a month). I'm not really sure there's anything we can do about the anxiety? Have you found anything to that helps? I feel like I'm just living scan to scan!

What's your history if you don't mind me asking? But feel free to ignore!

Miraclerainbow · 24/01/2021 13:44

Daffodil21

Not at all ask away!

I’m glad things are all going well for you. 11 weeks is an amazing achievement! 😊

I have endometriosis and I also had blocked tubes. I recently had surgery to remove the endo and unblock the tubes. Luckily this has helped me to get pregnant. I struggled for a little bit before surgery. I had no clue I had endo but I knew something was wrong because I’ve suffered my whole life with awful periods, pain during sex lots of other horrid symptoms. I went to 8 gynaecologists before I was finally diagnosed in October. I fell pregnant naturally 2 months after surgery so I was very lucky. That’s the same as me with diet I shouldn’t really have to much sugar etc because it can cause inflammation which is the main trigger for endo. Foods like red meat , dairy and gluten are big food groups I should avoid but I’m having real trouble cutting out gluten. I have been dairy free for 14 years now because I have an allergy against that anyway. So that’s been easy.

I also have under active thyroid but on medication for that.

I do have a nutritionist helping me now though with the endo and pregnancy diet so I’m hoping she can encourage me a little! X

Daffodil21 · 25/01/2021 19:15

@Miraclerainbow I don't know much about endometriosis but from what I do know it sounds awful! Do you need to have extra monitoring through pregnancy because of it?

That's great you have a nutritionist on board - sounds like you're well prepared!
