Hi

Has anyone seen a nice dress for parties/going out? Nothing too flashy or expensive?

Any pointers?

Cheers!

here I have this one at it is fab it's very flattering and I got loads of compliments when I wore it to a party recently I wore it with black peep toe heels but you could always do boots and tights if it's colder too.

Isabella Oliver is v v expensive but from what I can see you get a lot of your money back on ebay - I've seen a couple of (beautiful) dresses go for about £20-£30 less on there than brand new from the site, if you manage to do that then it's like the dress only cost £20 or so....

At least that was my logic when I splashed out a small fortune for a posh dress for an awards ceremony recently. Really did feel glam for the first time since the belly arrived (well, until my feet started to swell up anyway!)

Will be putting mine on ebay soon in the hope of getting quite a bit of the money back - can't think of any reason to look that glam again in near future!

A friend of mine has got a lovely red herring one which she didnt get to wear..baby came early!! she was just saying the other day she wanted to sell it... what size are you looking for?

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 21/10/2007 22:37

jojomamanbebe ahs some nice ones on the website, if you go through the MN link on the discounts page you get 10% off as well- great!

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 21/10/2007 23:37

Found this one It's also available in a burgundy colour.
SGK, that dress is lovely on you, love the matching bumps as well ( you and Lisa)

sparklygothkat · 21/10/2007 23:54

shame though chip, as i only wore it once!! Me thinks i will have to have another baby to get my money's worth!!!

chipmonkeyPumpkinNorks · 22/10/2007 00:01

Yes, that is the thing about having a premmie, you just don't get the mileage out of the clothes! I had ds3 in the middle of winter and a lot of neighbours didn't realise I was pg as my bump was disguised under my winter coat and in any case I only got to 32 weeks. One of my neighbours told me afterwards that she assumed I was minding someone's baby until she realised I had him with me so often that he had to be mine!

gigglewitch · 22/10/2007 00:25

have a look at blooming marvellous (money off from there too) i got nice stuff to wear for weddings, 21st / 40th parties and all sorts. Why does everyone want to have weddings and parties all of a sudden when you've got bump and no nice clothes???

Beenleigh · 22/10/2007 00:28

some of these topshop ones are gorgeous!

Marie12 · 22/10/2007 18:07

what shoes would you wear with those dresses? I am 6 months pregnant and going to a black tie do in a couple of weeks. I have a dress but no shoes. Don't want too high heels cos want to be comfortable (and don't want to fall over either!)but don't want to wear flat shoes as won't feel sexy - what do you recommend?

Beenleigh · 22/10/2007 19:42

you could have a look at the topshop website, the shoes are divided in to flat, low and high heels, I really like some of these flat pumps styles here

gigglewitch · 22/10/2007 20:44

there are some really nice sparkly 'ballerina' styles around at the mo - with lovely little low heels!! Practical for pg comfort, and partying! I love the stuff in New Look and Dolcis - ooh dolcis have some really elegant (and inexpensive) sparkly silver ones, or maybe pick out a colour to go with whatever dress you choose?

J20DemondaughterandDevilbaby · 22/10/2007 21:01

i have got this one if your interested in buying it?

fees · 22/10/2007 22:06

I know they are expensive but I bought the black tank dress from Isabella Oliver and Dressed it up and down I have worn it tons -it has been a life saver everyone compliments me when I wear it and my husband loves it!!! definately a good buy!!!

munchkinmum · 24/10/2007 20:27

Sorry, haven't logged on for a days, thanks for all your replies.

I'm looking for a size 14 dress - need to get loads of other stuff too as the wardrobe choice is getting smaller by the day!

Wandered into my local Zara yesterday (Knightsbridge, not sure about other locations)and was pleasantly suprised to find they have a small section of maternity clothes! I picked up a pair of wonderful dark denim jeans with a long inseam (great if you're tall). I prefer than to the ones I have from Seven and they were only £40. Also found a lovely black and white knit wool dress, very Chanel-looking and great price as well. Although the selection is limited most pieces looked very wearable, and not too expensive.

DonDons · 25/10/2007 21:17

another vote for isabella oliver - just got my brown wrap dress and it is lovely...
