So this is my second pregnancy and I had no issues at all in my first. Now I’m having to have lots of blood tests done and have now had this mentioned to me...anyone have this? I’ve googled and read about it and am unsure if I have it why it was missed in my first pregnancy.

I know that I'm a carrier for it but I don't really know much about it. X

Not sure i can help however I'll explain my experience with a slightly different situation. I was told I carry Beta Thalassemia in my first 3 pregnancies. It was picked up in my 4th that I actually carry haemoglobin saki. And I still have no idea what that means other than its super rare. Essentially I have unstable haemoglobin, and spend a lot of my time on iron tablets. I would say you probably will too as far as I'm aware most carriers of Thalassemia traits tend to show low iron. Now with regards to the baby, your partner will need a blood test to check if he is also a carrier and if he's perfectly fine then you shouldn't be able to pass it on, as its a genetic condition that requires both parents to have the gene. If your partner is a carrier, I presume they would offer further testing like an amniocentesis to check baby. This is the info I was given. Hope that's helped a little @Orlandoflorida1

Also as said i have had 4 babies now and no issues except polyhydramnios and slightly bigger babies.

Apparently I don’t have it but my midwife mentioned it. The hospital midwife said it would have been picked up on my first pregnancy if I had it 🤷🏻‍♀️
