Left bum cheek pain

Honestly the pain is unreal!
I am getting shooting pains in my bum cheek going towards the upper thigh.
I'm 17 weeks pregnant on Friday. Is it something to do with pregnancy?
Anyone else experienced this?!
The pain is so bad when I bend over I get stuck, I don't know if I should laugh, cry or scream! 🤣

I’m no expert but I had the same and my midwife said it sounded like sciatica. I haven’t had it last week or so where I’ve been isolating at hone, so it’s definitely walking that makes mine worse

@Sansa87
Yes!! This sounds exactly like mine. I was off for two weeks due to having covid and I didn't feel any pain at all.
As soon as I've gone back to work walking up and down as I'm a carer it's come back straight away.

It sucks doesn’t it! Midwife suggested warm compress and bum massage 😂

Work love me walking round just rubbing my arse.

It’s been so nice not having any pain. Dreading going back next week!

I have sciatica and this is how mine started out. (Proceeded to pain in my back sometimes, and the sole of my foot - apart from my back, it was just one side.) Other symptoms included trouble putting socks on and touching my toes, but if you're pregnant this may be tricky anyway. How is sitting for you, especially soft surfaces? The bad news is that if it's sciatica, there is not much that can be done other than painkillers (if you're allowed) and keeping moving and stretching, and you just have to wait for it to clear up by itself. Unless it's serious enough for an operation.

Sciatica

Sciatica - heat pads, try sitting with one bum cheek on a cushion, massage (vibrators work quite well!) or sitting/rolling on a hard round object or tennis ball

@Sansa87 as we speak I am making a hot water bottle to put on my bum 🙈 I can't believe how bad is it!
The two weeks I had off was heaven aswell.
Well I hope yours doesn't come back! X

@DuesToTheDirt I can only sit on a chair that supports me properly otherwise the pain is unbearable.
I will just have to deal with it for as long as possible. If it gets really bad I'll ring my doctor!
Is yours still bad?

Mine was agony until I got suitable painkillers (gabapentin, which acts on nerve pain). Cocodamol didn't touch it, but now I can even sit on the sofa for a while. Lying down is generally best though, on the sofa or even the floor. It's been a few months now and there is also some improvement in movement. Mostly I can put my socks on with both hands (!) I had it a couple of years ago though and it only lasted a few weeks then, so you might be lucky. But you should contact your doctor and see if they can do anything for you.

Uhhh, sciatica is the worst. I’ve had it on and off for years but since getting pregnant it’s non stop. A morning at work sets it off for the rest of the day. Just had two days off and it’s been bliss not to be in pain 😂

Hi, yes sciatica. I had the same in my bum cheek for a couple of weeks from 17-19 but has eased now. I follow Expecting and Empowered on Instagram. If you scroll across their videos at the top there is one on sciatica and I found it really helpful.
