Please can someone explain what this means?

Had my appointment today at 36 +1 and she said he's head down and 4/5ths engaged but does this mean labour is near?!

Is it first baby?

Either way it's completely normal if first baby they can take a while to fully engage and once engaged just stay put and if not first baby they usually have more room and can engage and pop in and out or do exactly the same as above don't worry yourself

4/5ths is barely in the pelvis. It means how much of the head they can feel above the pelvis basically. So babies head is not very engaged as yet. First babies tend to engage quicker and also tend to stay put. It has no impact on being close to labour.
At 36 weeks I was 3/5 with my DD, by 37 weeks she had pooped out and turned breech. By the time I went for a scan she’d turned back and had engaged again. (Little bugger)
Some babies don’t engage until your in labour. It’s nothing to worry about at all. 1/5 will be when your baby is dropped right in.
