Anyone else worry too much in first trimester?

I have a lovely 8 year old which my pregnancy was nice and easy. labour relatively straight forward too. Now expecting baby no 2 due on my sons 9th birthday! I am 4 weeks + 5 today and every twinge, or short lasting period pain I worry at wondering if it's sinister and if my nausea stops I worry too! I check the toilet roll everytime I wipe. Since I found out I’ve taken a test each day to make sure the line is getting darker. I haven't had any blood or bad cramping. Is anyone else the same?! I have no real reason to worry apart from seeing my sister go through multiple miscarriages over the yearsSad . No underlying health conditions etc but I know that often it just happens with unknown cause. I didn't worry whilst pregnant with my son (I was 18 when I had him mind so maybe an age thing) I'm just looking forward to my 12 week to make sure everything is okay!! Trying not to stress and enjoy it but it’s proving difficult at the moment!!!

I think it’s very normal to worry. There seems to be so many heartbreaking stories of miscarriage and it feels like so much pressure to get to those ‘magical’ 12 weeks.
I’m 23 weeks now (FTM) and had absolutely no reason for concern in my first 12 weeks (no spotting or bleeding, mild symptoms, not high risk) but I didn’t enjoy it at all through anxiety which is really sad when I look back at it.
My midwife suggested a lot of distraction activities, breathing exercises, etc which helped a little.
Good luck with your pregnancy Smile

I was a panicking mess the first trimester, & just wanted/needed to get to 12 weeks (I had a mmc in the summer)

Now I’m a panicking mess waiting for 20 week scan (I’m 18+4) I think I’m finding second a bit harder because of the lack of symptoms and can’t really feel movements yet.

My point being you’re a mum, I feel this is absolutely normal, but it’s not spoken about much outside pregnancy threads.

I’d advise putting the tests away though. A line is a line regardless of strength, & a line that isn’t as strong doesn’t mean anything.

@Gemmaemilyx
I feel you.. im 12 weeks according to an early EPU visit and have my 12 week scan on Friday but everyday, every twinge and ever time i pee I panic. Its getting worse by the day and I have a constant nagging gut that something will be wrong.
Its my 1st pregnancy and was a massive surprise plus I've suffered terribly with HG so have been Working from home and alone to think 99% of the time. Dont think it helps with miscarriage being so prevalent in the press at the minute either (supportive of it being so just bad timing with my worry)

If love to hear tips on how to stop worrying and overthinking everything.
My partner had 2 children from previous so doesn't understand the new feeling I get from EVERYTHING. He is supportive but just doesn't get it..

Any words welcome xx kelly :)

Yes!!!

I feel like all I’m doing is worrying! I’ve had pretty horrendous morning sickness and I’ve worried that it’s going to harm the baby, then I’ve worried that the anti sickness I’ve been given will harm baby along with a multitude of other things 🤯.
I’m 9+3 with my first and I haven’t even had my booking appointment yet (bloody COVID) so I think I’m just over analysing everything!
Roll on the 14th, I’ve booked a private scan for peace of mind over Christmas as my 12 week scan won’t be until after Christmas/new year time 😒.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day 😘 xxx

Thank you all for your lovely comments. It's nice to know I'm not alone!! I thought I was going crazy. I agree, with covid around and not seeing people it is harder I think as I'm sat at home with my thoughts. I went for a Starbucks yesterday with a friend and it did take my mind off of it. As someone said any distraction activities anyone knows about would be fab!! Hope you all have healthy pregnancies xx

Same with me, my sons now 13 so been a long time, had a mc when my son was 4, im now 34 and 12 weeks 6 days, i went for a private scan at 12 weeks, as everyday i was checking and worried sick, had my first scan at hospital 8 weeks 6days, but couldnt wait till 20 weeks, even now at nearly 13 weeks and everything fine at 12 weeks, i still worry everyday and panic on loo trips! Maybe ill relax more on 16 week gender scan in 3 weeks, just hope everythings still okay, its normal to worry even for no reason, i still worry daily! Congratulations Flowers

Ahhh yes I think when I can start feeling movements I'll be less worried! I've told my mum and sister my concerns and they say just try not to stress... but it's easier said than done 😂😂 I think I need to sit back relax and whatever will be will be. No amount of worrying is going to change what's going to or not going to happen ❤️ but I'm glad I'm not going out of my mind also!! congratulations to you too! Xx

I don't think the first trimester would be the first trimester without a bit of constant worrying 🤣

Hope you're okay though and just try and give yourself a break.. i had a few too many talkings to myself during the first trimester. ❤️

Hi,
You sound just like me, I’m 5+3 with my third and I check the loo roll every time and worry if everything will be ok. I think it’s pretty normal! Xx
