C Section Worried

Lille2316 · 08/12/2020 01:35

I am booked in for a c section this week and a few admin errors or things I've had to chase have left me worried I'll get there and they'll say no it's been cancelled. I'm so worried if I get turned away the stress will cause to the baby. I'm being irrational and I'm worried as he's breech I don't want to give birth naturally. I'm overthinking and worrying not about the procedure so much but more they mess me about on the day. Looking for some positivity x

It is so nerve wracking to give birth and especially to be booked in for a c section. There may have been some hiccups but it sounds like they've got you booked in now. Try and keep calm, easier said than done! Once that baby is in your arms this will all feel a world away.
I've had two c sections and the medical teams were amazing. Didn't stop me being super nervous but I'm sure it's had no effect on my two.

Good luck and drink lots of fluids after the op as it will ease you if you have a bit of constipation from the meds. Sorry if tmi but I speak from experience 😁.

Thanks so much for your reply - im a worry guys anyway and a few hiccups regarding baby's position have just left me feeling uneasy and untrusting that it'll go to plan but I massively agree once baby is here it'll all be so irrelevant. I'm tempted to ring the hospital tomorrow morning and just check it's all booked in for Wednesday for peace of mind xxx

Good luck OP, I hope it all goes well. (Yes, I would ring again tomorrow and double check you are booked in just for peace of mind).

Ring up and check for your own peace of mind but it won't be cancelled 😊 it's natural to worry when there are errors. I had first ELCS in April 2019 and my second this October and both times the teams have been amazing. Especially this time round with Covid, I was slightly apprehensive but honestly they were great. Good luck to you!

I would definitely say ring the hospital to check, for your peace of mind. They're there to help!

Lille2316 · 08/12/2020 09:28

Thanks everyone I'm going to call them today and just double check as it'll give me peace of mind xx early night tonight ready for the big day so just got to keep busy today xx

I had a planned c-section for a breech baby too. I'm sure everything will be ok. Have you been told when to arrive at the hopsital and when to go nil by mouth by?

Take entertainment (laptop with films/box sets)We were told to arrive at the hospital for 11.30 and ended up sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours as I was last on the schedule (I was the lowest risk for the day and emergencies came in). I'm sure every hospital works differently but I just wanted to manage your expectation in case that happened to you.

Good luck, it's a really wonderful experience x

Lille2316 · 08/12/2020 13:34

@wimbler got to be there for 7.30am and just wait for the order of how they'll do the sections - as it's not an emergency I'm not expecting to be first in but I'd love to be. Nil by mouth from midnight tonight. Just hoping there hasn't been any admin errors and they say o it's been cancelled and I have to reschedule, with breech it does worry me I don't want to risk a vaginal delivery. I was going to call but actually it might not give me peace of mind sometimes it can just cause more stress etc xxx

@Lille2316 good luck I'm sure everything will be fine. Sounds like you are high on the list, I had the latest arrival time of everyone that day, Especially with covid they won't want people hanging around unnecessarily so I'm sure they'll be organised!

Lille2316 · 08/12/2020 14:24

@wimbler thanks for the support I'm going to bed super early, slightly nervous and I know I'll be feeling it too later and and tomorrow morning but I think that's very normal, all being well this time tomorrow baby might be here!! X

Thanks everyone who commented, I actually resisted calling and I'm there first thing tomorrow. Feels like Christmas Eve just can't wait to have baby here now, once I'm all checked in and they're getting me ready I think I'll be more relaxed that I know baby will be arriving very soon!! X
