Scan?

When did you all find out your 12 week scan I'm 10 weeks and not heard anything about it technically I should be having it in 2 weeks but I doubt it now I spoke to midwife last week and she didn't say much about it!

I didn't get mine until about 11 weeks. But i had my booking appointment at 10 weeks and the midwife told me I would et a letter soon so I knew to expect it. I also didn't have my scan until 14 weeks. Have you spoken to your midwife yet? x

Yeah that's what I thought it's cutting it a bit fine I can't see mr having the scan at 12 weeks at this rate especially with that week being Christmas x

Yeah I had my booking appointment last week over the phone we're using an app instead of notes to so she said I'd either get a letter or it will be put on the app but I need to know because of work x

I think I got my letter about a week before the scan.

Like you I was getting anxious to know when the scan would be and called them before I got the letter. They were perfectly happy to let me know over the phone

Oh ok maybe I'll just give them a call when I finish work today and see as i will need to sort work or childcare. With my other 2 I knew a lot earlier when it was going to be x

I got mine at 9 or 10 weeks, definitely call them.

Have you had your bloods done? I ask because you said your booking appointment was over the phone, mine was too but you should then be asked to come in for a blood test, urine test and blood pressure check. It was then that my 12 week scan refferal was made.

There are some blood tests that need to be done at or before 10 weeks.

I have to have blood every 4 weeks because I have hypothyroidism I'm sue another blood test at 12 weeks so my midwife has arranged for me to have it at the hospital when I have my scan but if it's going to be after 12 weeks I need to book one at my doctors as it's a must that I have them every 4 weeks. I'm going to ring the hospital when I finish work this afternoon definitely x

Well I have rung to be told they don't have space for me and I'll have to wait 4-6 weeks which is absolutely ridiculous!

Is that for ur scan ? If so if you want to have the screening that happens at the 12 week scan it needs to be done before ur 14 weeks. If so I would either be ringing then back and sayin that wasn't good enough or be moving my care to a different hospital x

I agree, screening test during the scan for downs syndrome etc needs to be done before 14 weeks. And your blood test to test for sickle cell and thalessemia needs to be done before 10 weeks.

That really isn't good enough. Do you have a direct contact number for your midwife? Could you contact them and ask them to chase this?

Yep that's my 12 week scan it's fuming she was so rude and didn't care at all I will ring again later and say it's not good enough x

Yeah that is completely ridiculous. I'd ask them how they plan to do the screening test as that has to be done before 14 weeks and you're not prepared to forgo those tests.

Maybe your midwife can sort something? Or is there another hospital you could go to?

Well obviously me ringing up has made them re think as I've now got my scan at 8am 22nd dec xx

Thank goodness for that. Scan buddies, I've got my 20 week scan at 8am on 22nd!
