41 weeks closed cervix and pains

My midwife attempted a sweep at noon yesterday and said my cervix was closed so couldn't. Ive been up since about 3.30am with very sharp menstrual type cramps every 7-10 minutes, lasting about 30-40 seconds. I feel like I may be in labour but I haven't lost my mucus plug or my waters haven't broke. Could my cervix open this quickly? Baby is still moving away so that's good I'm 41 weeks today.

Yes it could be the start of things or no it might not be. This could last days. Take paras and go to sleep. Sleep as much as you can. Sleep, eat, repeat.

I was too distracted/ excited and then in too much pain and ended up not sleeping for any of the four days preceding baby's arrival. And then couldn't sleep in hospital because of screaming babies...
