Hello all,
Has anyone had any lucky with restrictions for scans?
We live in Staffordshire and are in tier 3 and I have my 12 week scan on Friday. I hate the prospect my other half can't attend.
Some people have said to ask when we arrive as some midwifery units are allowing it???
If not any tips for info to ask for or questions i need to ask??
Its my 1st baby and am so anxious of not having him with me to see the scan and absorb the information for me.... help :)

No one on here will know what the policy of your local scan unit is. Call them and ask.

I would give them a call to check so you know the up to date rules on this.
My DH has been allowed to come with me on all of my scans so we have been incredibly lucky (we’re in a different county though).
At the scans they usually talk you through everything they are seeing as they go along. You should hopefully get some photos too.

I hope your OH can be there with you and best of luck.

I am in Staffordshire (UHNM Trust) and my partner couldn't come with me to my 12 week scan Friday just gone. My sonographer told me he can come to the 20 week scan though.

It’s different in every hospital trust and isn’t necessarily correlated to the tiers - things have changed throughout the year and weren’t always re-restricted with new lockdowns. My hospital has has strict restrictions all year but you are now allowed someone with you for certain scans and this didn’t change over November. Only way to know is to ask your hospital/midwife so I’d give them a ring. The 12 week scan is mainly just measuring baby and giving you a due date to work with.

Google your local hospital and maternity services COVID.

All the information will be there.

Our local trust is regularly updating any changes on Facebook too.

Without giving the name of your hospital, it’s impossible for anyone to give you the answer.

@Amethyst2502 suppose its just wishful thinking..

@FingersCrossedForChristmasAll thanks for the support its all so overwhelming doing it on my own and I don't digest information too well when I'm anxious so just hoping I remember everything they tell me :)

Call up your hospital and ask.

When I had my 12 week scan DH wasn’t allowed to come (they changed the rules the very next day to allow partners to scans). So we went for a private scan the weekend before so we can have that experience together. It was sad he wasn’t at the 12 week scan but he at least had some involvement a few days before. Is that an option?

For my 20 week scan, partners are allowed but for literally just the scan...so he had to wait outside until I went into the room and then he was allowed to come in.

Maybe check your hospital’s maternity page on Facebook?

I recently went for my 12-week scan and my partner was able to come in with me but that was at Macclesfield!

Fingers crossed for you!

It’ll vary depending on your trust. I’m Manchester area which has been tight restrictions for ages but my DH was able to come in for the scan. Not the whole appointment, he had to wait outside the unit and someone went to get him when it was time to turn the screen towards me. He didn’t miss anything which I’m so glad about. He’s also able to do the same for the 20 week scan too.
