Two vessel cord

Hi mammies, I had my 20 week scan and my baby has a two vessel cord. The nurse said everything looks good with the baby and his size I just have to go back in 5 weeks for a scan to check his growth, after I left I googled it and panicked with what I read, I'm thinking if she seen any problem with the heart or kidneys she would of said and would of brought me back in sooner than 5 weeks. Has anyone else had a baby with a two vessel cord and was there any problems? Thanks for any feedback yous may have 😊

Hello. Yes, I had this and like you I panicked! Like you say, it is not really a problem unless there are other "markers" detected. On its own, it's just one of those things! I was monitored more towards the end of my pregnancy to make sure that it was still working well but apart from that, nothing changed and ds was fine. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and try not to worry!

Thank you europilgrim for your reply, that's great to hear all went well for you and your son! Google is the worst thing to use for things like this 😂

Hi @Redemptionsong1, how did your next scan go? I also have this with my current pregnancy, I'm 33w and baby seems to be doing fine. For me it was picked up at a cvs at 13w but the consultant said it's fairly common and wasn't worried. I also googled it after and worried myself silly....and to be honest I don't think I'll properly stop worrying until baby is here! For me there's no extra monitoring offered other than telling midwife to keep an eye on my bump growing well - she sent me for a growth scan at 28w as I was measuring under 10th percentile on my chart but scan put baby at 90th! (I know both are notoriously inaccurate though) and 32w bump measurement was fine so all seems to be well. Just hoping these last few weeks things stay on track.
Hope you're doing well!
