I am currently breast feeding
It’s been one month
For past 1-2 days I can’t feed my baby from my left breast because too much milk is coming out and her face gets all wet and her clothes and my clothes and she chokes on the milk cuz it’s too fast so I have been giving her from right side as she is fine with that but how do I fix this problem ?
Also i noticed while I’m changing her nappy, often times she starts doing a poo when I have her nappy open and it’s mustard colour and frothy like it has a lot of gas bubbles in it... I googled and google saying it’s cuz she getting too much fore milk abs not hind milk... what does that mean ?
Is that bad ?
How do I fix that ?
I feel like maybe I should start bottle feeding her ? I’m so confused.

Contact your HV and ask them to refer you to the infant feeding team for advice and support.
You could also contact the national breastfeeding helpline: www.nationalbreastfeedinghelpline.org.uk/

I am not an expert but if you have oversupply and fast letdown (which it sounds like you do in one breast) then I believe the advice is to hand express, or use a Hakaa pump or similar, to get a small amount of milk off the breast first, before you latch baby on. Apparently it can also help to use a laid back / biological nurturing position when feeding from that breast.

There is lots of advice here www.laleche.org.uk/too-much-milk-and-oversupply/

With the milk coming out too fast I think I used to just let some go in a cup/ bottle first then let ds latch on when it wasn’t flowing as fast, I would usually find it was like this when I forgot to switch sides so hopefully it will change to be the same with as the right side.
I’m not sure about the poop sorry!
Congratulations on the birth of your baby 😊

You can express some from left side while she feeds on right first then move her to the left one..

It does sound like you have fast flow from that breast, this is reasonably common and can be managed with a few techniques.
Have a look at kellymom.com it's a really great website for practical breastfeeding support.
Could you try unlatching your baby once the flow of milk starts? You could then catch the fast flow in a muslin cloth.

Hi

Try posting in the feed the world section under infant feeding, you'll get loads of great advice.

For your left breast - you could try hand expressing the first bit off, and also sitting a bit tilted backwards can help too. Dont completely stop feeding off it though, that won't help in the long run.

Don't worry about the frothy poo, it's just a sign of getting lots of the fore milk. The fattier milk is thicker. Have a look at baby's latch.. you want a nice deep latch to get good sucks to pull through the fattier milk.

If you've not come across it, try the Kelly Mom website.. loads of great fact sheets about breast feeding.

Also, Lucy Webber on Instagram is a bf lady and puts useful posts up.

You're doing a great job.. it's so tricky at he start but totally pays off a d becomes much easier. I remember sitting trying to feed with my boobs firing out milk like water pistles feeling just like you.

Express a little bit first and try laid back feeding, so baby is more in control and "above" the boob and able to come off if they want rather than under it with milk pouring into their mouth.
