Im currently 21 weeks pregnant. Im going crazy because of my husband, if he could lock me in at home he would! We were in lockdown for the past month and even before that i hadn’t seen my friends for over a month. My friends birthday is coming up next week and a couple of my friends (5 girls and me) have decided to go to a restaurant to surprise her, but my husband went crazy when i told him about the idea and said he would never accept me going to a public restaurant during this situation with covid with me being pregnant and vulnerable. (I have to admit i did have a few pregnancy scares this pregnancy) I understand his point and concern but i dont see this much of a risk to go out with a small group to a restaurant, especially when the frequency is so little and its the first time in months for me meeting with everyone! Im just so sad and whenever i mention that i need girl time he says meet them in a park which is ridiculous in this weather!! I dont know if its my hormones but im honestly very sad and just want to see if other people agree with me or think he’s right and i should be more responsible??

I think we all need to assume that @Cupcakejamlover meant sitting outside in the cold, preferably with an outdoor heater Grin I'm meeting my friends in their garden with an open fire on Friday and plan to tell them about the pregnancy in person, which would have been the case pre-covid. It's just not the same via video call and certainly through text

@Cupcakejamlover just to offer a different perspective, I would have dinner. I'll be being extra careful in my third trimester but I can't handle isolating the whole 10 months of pregnancy (26 weeks)

I personally feel like this as I have heard stories of say person 1 testing positive and the person they live with share a kitchen, bathroom etc testing negative. I just wash my hands very regularly and I am conscious of what I touch. Different if your OH wants you to be careful though there needs to be a balance. Technically we are not vulnerable until 3 trimester and more so if you are BAME (Which I am).

Good luck x

I’m 33 weeks and still regularly going to cafes/ shops/ restaurants. I’m in a low tiered area of Scotland. I’m sensible with masks and hand sanitising and I can’t handle being stuck indoors. It’s hard taking a baby out normally never mind during a pandemic so I’m getting out as much now as I can before baby is born!

I'm 28 weeks and have been going to restaurants. I wash my hands at every opportunity, ensure I'm social distancing, wipe tables I'm sitting at etc. I'm starting to wind down any activities now I'm in the third trimester but the risk in the first two is small.

I think he's being a bit controlling. You are a grown woman and can manage your own risk.
