Strange one but my bump feels bruised?

I'm 28+5 weeks pregnant with my 2nd, and last night baby was moving but not having his usually bedtime party. Put it down to a busy day and he had moved more during the day than normal.

Today movements seem OK but my bump feels bruised - like tender down the side he usually lies (he's been tucked under my right rib for a few days.) Not to the touch but just a general tenderness. Like a muscle bruise.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm thinking ligament pain or stretching maybe?

I have a similar feeling at the moment. Baby was kicking in the same spot all day yesterday and by the evening that spot felt sore...
Everything is stretching and being kicked so I guess an internal bruise is possible!

He's just moved again and my bump is agony to touch one spot now, right side about a inch or two under my rib and more to the front.

Eugh pregnancy is fun lol

I'd check with your midwife to be on the safe side.

Couldn't get a hold of my midwife. Triage did say as long as it doesn't get worse today and is easing by tomorrow they aren't concerned. Could be bruising from kicks

I had this around the same number of weeks. The midwife said it might be inflammation of the breast pane ie just underneath it. It did go after a few weeks but was painful for quite a while. Hope it doesn't last too long for you

Was it one sided? I'm growing more concerned as the night goes on tbf

Yes mine was just on the right hand side too. It's definitely worth calling if you're concerned or even try for a GP appointment?

I ended up phoning triage back as the pain starting shooting down my side. Turns out baby is point blank refusing to lie on my left side so all the pressure is on the right side of my womb, and it appears it's internal bruising and muscle pain because of this.

Yup I had this with my second. Pretty sure he had bruised me from the inside. He was very big and strong.

OnNaturesCourse · 03/12/2020 11:29

Was he big at birth?

My bump is measuring dead on where it should be but it's hard to measure correctly because it's all literally at the right side, it's so lopsided.

He was 10lbs, but don't be panicked by that, it means nothing and it was no more painful giving birth to him than my first and I had not painkillers with the second (no time as it was such a short labour)

Glad you got to the bottom of it! Mine was the same for weeks, always over to the right, I could literally feel her feet under my right ribs until she became engaged at about 35 weeks.
Your baby might also have long legs as they said mine was in the 90th percentile for legs at the scan 😬
Do you have a birth ball at all? If not it might be worth getting one as I found it helped relieve the pain by bouncing on that.
