I'm currently working on a story about NIPS testing and what happens to your personal genetic data once you've taken the test.
Has anybody out there taken a NIFTY screening test with GenePlanet in Slovenia? They seem to be growing in popularity among Brits and across the rest of Europe.
Did you know these tests are the property of BGI, a Chinese corporation with links to the Beijing government? In some cases your genetic data is stored and passed on to BGI to run further tests to help them develop profitable new drugs.
If you've taken one of these tests or know someone who has, I would love to talk to you about your experience and what kind of information you were given regarding data protection.
