Hi, anyone else chocking everytime there's a sniff of food items with garlic and onion? I thought this aversion was limited to first trimester but I'm still getting sick everytime I walk past a restaurant or someone in my building cooks with garlic and onion. I feel like no one understands. My poor DH is has had to be off it cz if me. He's coping. But the other day he mistakenly put some spiced curly fries in the oven and the whole house got obnoxious with garlicy smell in minutes. I locked myself up in a bedroom and couldn't go out for days after without almost puking. I feel like this is extreme aversion and no one seems to understand how I feel. I almost feel like I'll choke to death. Anyone else with such survival issues? And any tips on how I can manage it. Does it actually get better. Cz I used to love onion and garlic before and now I can't have 75% of the food items I used to have before due to this specific aversion. ☹️😢🤢🤮

Oh I had this! Remember chopping raw garlic for a meal one night and feeling like I could smell it on my fingers for days no matter how hard I scrubbed - and I love it normally! Don’t think I had the aversion to quite the same extent as you (didn’t mind onions or the smell of cooked garlic) but happy to report it disappeared by about week 14 along with a weird aversion to broccoli (made me gag!) - hope yours clears up soon!

This was the same for me, I couldn’t be in the kitchen for ages and there was certainly no smelly food allowed 😅 even walking past peoples houses who were cooking made me gag!
I haven’t managed to eat onions the entire pregnancy and only just starting to stomach some vegetables now. I can’t remember really when it eased, but definitely not before 16 weeks as I was still being sick regularly! No tips other than windows open and find a smell that you can handle to spritz around you. Hope it eases soon x
