I think I lost my mucus plug this morning!! Is this what other people's looked like? Definitely think it looks like snot...

does it look like a whole plug or part of one? Not sure how big a whole one would be. (Pictures are of the same plug just different lighting)

How long did it take people to go in labour after having a plug like this?
I'm 38+2 🙂

Sorry for the TMI pictures!

@Lil28 haha yep me too! Yes I think being relaxed does really help as your body will feel 'safe' to go into labour ☺️ for me it's easier said than done though 🤣

@kfcplease thank you for your wise words! That's a much more positive way of looking at it ☺️

Little update: I had some more mild cramps/contractions in the night last night, passed more of my mucus plug this morning, and this evening I think I possibly have started leaking amniotic fluid which I'm going to monitor but call the AAU in the morning and probably go in to get checked. My hind waters leaked with my DS at 39+5 and I ended up being induced which was not a great experience, I was really hoping to go into labour naturally this time!

Good luck xx

Lil28 · 08/12/2020 09:18

@Katnissx aww good luck! X

Willowfalls · 09/12/2020 20:20

How are you all getting on? Xx

Isadora2007 · 09/12/2020 20:24

@Katnissx was hoping for a lovely baby photo at the end of this thread... fingers crossed all is going well and you’re too busy cuddling your baby to post!!

joystir59 · 10/12/2020 03:59

Any news yet OP? Hope your baby has arrived now

SpacePug · 10/12/2020 12:54

Hope you've had your baby now OP!
I found this thread as I am 36+5 and think I lost a little bit of plug just now. Looked similar to your first pic but much less of it, so I'll just keep an eye for anymore. I've got an appointment at hospital tomorrow so will mention it then

Katnissx · 13/12/2020 09:53

Hi guys, I'm so sorry for the lack of update. Baby is still not here believe it or not! Was having a bit of a tough time of it last week and felt a bit disheartened to come on here and say baby was still not here.
However I'm in a much better place now, feeling much more chilled out about it and know the baby will be here in the next two weeks no matter what! (I'm 40 weeks today!)
Still loosing mucus plug, often bloody, daily- can't believe how much of it there is! And having cramps on and off, mostly in the night.

Hope the rest of you ladies are doing okay- anyone got any baby news to share yet?

Xx

Keep your chin up, it won’t be long now, I felt really fed up at the end of my pregnancy too. Good luck Flowers

nicciw87 · 13/12/2020 13:46

@Katnissx has anyone examined u yet to see if ur dilated?

Katnissx · 13/12/2020 17:22

@Roselilly36 thank you, I do feel okay about it now- although I've been getting loads of 'is the baby not here yet' messages that are starting to piss me off 🤦‍♀️

@nicciw87 no, I had a midwife appt this week and asked to be examined but she said there was no point as it wasn't clinically indicated and that it could risk introducing infection and that because it's my second pregnancy I likely would be 1-2cm dilated anyway as the cervix isn't closed like it is with first pregnancies, so she said it wouldn't tell us much anyway 🤷‍♀️

Just wanted to say that I too have had prolonged prodromal labours, and I sympathise with you. Just when I had reconciled myself to the idea that the baby might not actually be coming and that I might be 2 weeks over my waters broke with spectacular fashion and baby arrived the next day (on my due date). Hang in there. Baby will come.

PFin · 13/12/2020 17:54

Oh my good luck. The 'well is baby here yet' texts are so annoying but at least people are thinking of you. Bar medical intervention baby will come when baby is ready wee thing must want to lap of the comfort for a as long as possible.

Willowfalls · 13/12/2020 19:08

I’ve been thinking about you OP! Sorry to hear you were feeling a bit disheartened & glad you are okay now. It wont be long until baby is here :).

I’m just over 16 weeks and feeling panicked (& stupid). It feels like an eternity between scans and I dont feel particularly pregnant. It sounds ridiculous but my stretching pains have subsided & I don’t have a bump. I never had any sickness or anything & a natural worrier. Hoping feeling like this is sort of “normal!”.

Hope you can keep busy this week and all you ladies are okay Smile

ShirleyPhallus · 13/12/2020 19:14

Ah fingers crossed for you OP. I was 2 weeks over with DD by the time she chose to make an appearance, and only then cos I was induced. But this was after bloody weeks of early labour symptoms.

He / she will be here before you know it and be totally worth the wait! Flowers

Roselilly36 · 13/12/2020 19:17

I totally get it OP, I avoided alcohol throughout my pregnancy, my mum said for goodness sake have a glass of wine & relax the night before I went into labour, I had my son 2 weeks after my show, so you are on the homeward straight. Hoping to hear some good news soon.

Lil28 · 14/12/2020 06:03

@Katnissx I have been feeling the same. My plug started coming out 2 weeks ago now and I think I got too excited that it was going to be soon, this weekend I have felt so fed up with the worst back pains Sad I am 40 weeks on Wednesday and have been offered a sweep on Thursday which I think I am going to accept. Hope you get some good news this week Smile xx

minmooch · 14/12/2020 07:35

@Katnissx all my labours have been in my back. Never had any pains anywhere else. Hope it's the start of labour for you.

minmooch · 14/12/2020 07:36

Sorry that should have been to @Lil28

Lil28 · 14/12/2020 14:48

@minmooch yea I did read up about 'back labour' and thought the same as they do come and go.... fingers crossed xx

Katnissx · 16/12/2020 19:58

Well it seems this baby is determined to make me have a very drawn out labour 🤦‍♀️ I have been having contractions through the night for a little while now but on Tuesday early hours they got so strong that I could no longer sleep through them, I got up started bouncing on my ball and timing them. By 8am ish my timer app was saying I was in established labour, I was having contractions lasting on average 40-50 seconds every 2-3 minutes (although there was still some irregularities). I phoned the birth centre and they told me and my partner to head in. However we had to wait for my mum to arrive to watch my DS and things started to slow down a little after the phone call, and then much more after my mum arrived (she can be quite over bearing lol and I was anxious about her coming anyway but no one else to ask). I took myself off, had a bath and tried to chill out but they slowed down to the point where I was having a minute long contractions every 20-30 minutes for basically the rest of the day. Also loosing tons of mucus plug every time I went for a wee (I can't believe there is any left but still having loads 🤷‍♀️). I went for an evening walk and thought things would pick up again over night and although I kept waking with contractions it didn't turn into anything.

Then today I had another period mid morning where I was getting regular contractions which became more frequent but then fizzled out again 😫 I spoke to a midwife who suggested having a sweep to get things going properly (as I am getting tired!) so I am booked in for tomorrow. Hoping things may happen overnight though and I won't have to have the sweep!
Was so disappointed when things petered out on Tuesday though as I was sure it was the real deal! Couldn't believe it could all just stop like that 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for the messages ladies, was nice to come on and have a read through today and have a bit of distraction!

@Lil28 I had contractions in my back with my first pregnancy/labour and the midwives thought the baby was back to back. This time they have been at the front although my back is aching too, but more in a dull kind of way.

Also it all kicked off Tuesday morning after DTD the night before, so going to try to persuade DH again tonight 🤣🙈

@Katnissx sounds exactly like my 4th that happened to me 2 different nights within 10days then the 3rd time was when I walked and squatted and wouldn't sit or lie down after previous false labour's went in had a sweep was already 4cm and had him 7 hours later its exhausting having a slow stop start labour tho fingers crossed the sweep will kick u off properly

PFin · 16/12/2020 20:46

LOL i didnt know what DTD was until now 😂 God i feel for you i was extremely blessed with first birth and im petrified incase my 2nd is drawn out like this. Hope its quick for you once your in established labour! Nothing worse than a mum buzzing around fussing either 🙄

I had my baby girl in March, I was 42 weeks! I had given up hope and I was absolutely dreading the induction (I was induced with my other 2 babies). I was due to go in on the Wednesday when I was exactly 42 weeks, well that night at around 3am I woke up and I felt out of sorts? I had some contractions!! Rushed to the hospital and they said I was 3cm (completely closed before). Well 8 hours later I wasn’t progressing at all, they said as it was my induction day anyway they’d keep me in and break my waters. All of a sudden at 1pm my waters broke! 37 minutes later , 8 mins of pushing my little girl was here!

Hope you have your baby tonight OP! Sometimes when you give up and think meh it happens 😃
