Early scan - no gestational sac :(

Hi all,

Short story... last period was 14/10/20 although this was unusually early (by a good week), tested positive last Monday, clear blue 1-2 then up to 2-3 by last Wednesday....

I am feeling nauseous, swollen and tender breasts, bloated and experiencing abdominal cramps and progressively more lower back aches... I feel twinges pretty much all over now and then. I was sent for an early scan this morning and they could not find a pregnancy... my womb lining is thickened but nothing else to see.... to say I am devastated is an understatement....

Potentially 3 outcomes... dates wrong so too early, miscarriage or ectopic. They took bloods and I need to return on Wednesday morning for further bloods.

Have anyone else experienced this?

So what a morning, I had a booking in appointment this morning at 8.30 with the midwife, so once again I was prodded for bloods etc.... I feel like a pin cushion!! last night was awful as I had severe diarrhoea, chills and felt very achey after feeling sick all day, the midwife said this is normal. Also my breasts feel totally normal today?!?!

Raced over to the hospital for my scan afterwards and so thankful to see this! A sac and yolk so this proves that my dates were out so I must have ovulated later in my cycle (even though my period was a week early!)

Still feeling like my tummy is going to explode, anyone else suffered with loose stools?! And lack of breast tenderness? picture removed by MNHQ

@Dougal88 the scan photo has a name on you might want to get MNHQ to take it down and upload a different one.

Congratulations though! I didn’t have much breast tenderness, it came and went but was often not very noticeable.

I’m new here and came because I’m currently going through the same thing. I have irregular periods and my period tracking apps have different dates for me. I went to the dr today and they told me the sac was empty. She said because I have irregular periods it could be that I have my dates wrong or unfortunately a miscarriage. This forum has given me a lot of hope. But I want to say congratulations to you and positive results.

It is so very nerve wracking isn't it :( I really do hope all is ok. Patience is the HARDEST THING!!!

Do you mean your ges sac is empty? X

@blessing1 I had a bleed early in pregnancy and went in for a scan believing I was 7 weeks. They found an empty gestational sac, no yolk or fetal pole, and said it was 50/50. My second scan to check showed a baby and heart beat, I was two weeks behind what I thought I was. Subsequent scan showed I have fibroids which in hindsight explains a lot about my period. These things can happen. Take care of yourself and you have all my best wishes x

Yesss I cried and have been stressed out but learning that someone close to me had the same scare has calmed me. My dr actually never verified which sac but I’m assuming it’s the ges sac. I get my test for my hgc levels back tomorrow. I feel confident that everything will be okay. Thank you ladies I’ll keep you all posted.

Blessing1 · 07/12/2020 16:35

Update. I got my results back from the HCG test and my levels did double. My Dr said that’s good but ordered me to do another ultrasound. I noticed a lot of you all were asked to come back within 2 weeks so I asked her why is she requesting me to come in for another ultrasound so early and she mentioned that although the levels did rise there could still be a chance that something is off and that by now they should be able to see something at 16,000 . Fingers crossed that we are able to see something and hear something today.

Okay another update. Ladies I’m so happy and relieved. I saw the baby and the healthy heart beat. I’m 6 weeks 1day.

Hi

I’m new here but I’m desperate need of advice! I did a clear blue test 2.5 weeks ago, unsure of my previous period dates due to a miscarriage the month before. I went for a scan on 30th Nov saw what they thought was a tiny sac but weren’t 100% sure so did my hgc bloods which came back at 1064, they said this matched with what was seen on the scan, had more bloods Friday (4th dec) increase up to 1943hgc, repeated Sunday (6th dec) and it was 2275 hgc. I had a scan today and they are saying they can’t see anything in the tubes or womb, a small what could be sac in the womb but also might not be. They said pregnancy of unknown location. However hgc is increasing. They have said as they are yet to locate it they want to treat it as ectopic even though this hasn’t been confirmed! They want me to have an injection tomorrow to lose the pregnancy! I really don’t feel this is right and I just wanted to know if anything else had numbers of 2275 and couldn’t see anything, and what happened next?

Oliver2010 · 07/12/2020 20:52

Also, just to note I’ve had absolutely no bleeding or pain
