So I am an ivf patient and I was always told high strength vitamin D was needed so I’ve been taking 8000iu and I am 9.5 weeks pregnant but on researching this I am now panicking as the max dose should be 4000iu a day. I will come off it altogether now but I am worried I’ve caused harm to my unborn baby. Having suffered 3 miscarriages this year I can’t face another one 😪😪😪😪

Hi sorry to hear you’re worrying - it’s horrible in pregnancy when you realise things like this. My advice would be ring your gp or midwife for advice/ reassurance. Some people are on really high strength so hopefully it’s nothing to worry about and at least you’ve realised now. Try not to panic (easier said than done, I know).

I’ve seen high doses specifically recommended for pregnancy.

I would ring your GP or the fertility clinic that you had the ivf with and ask them what dose you should be taking as you may need more of your depending on blood work that you've had done

Thanks for the replies ladies. I’m in with my consultant tomorrow morning so the secretary said we can discuss then. In the meantime I’ll just take folic acid on its own today. So worried! X
