Are these teeth?! 7 week old baby...

Please tell me these are not teeth forming already! My baby is just 7 weeks old but she has really been crying and then I spotted this in her lower gum! Surely she’s far too young to cut teeth?
Has anyone else experienced this so young and how long does it take for them to actually come through? I don’t have any teething toys yet...what should I do?!

Look like 2 little teeth to me Hun xx

bluebearss · 29/11/2020 19:13

Picture is a little grainy so hard to tell but they certainly look like teeth! It's early and unusual but it can happen!

OverTheRainbow88 · 29/11/2020 19:14

Yes! Get it over and done with. !

bluebearss · 29/11/2020 19:15

Try massaging baby's gums with a clean finger and helping guide teething toys to her mouth. I don't think you can even give Calpol until 8 weeks?!

Pinkypie86 · 29/11/2020 19:16

Looks like it to me - my DD now 8, cut her first tooth at 15 weeks, she couldn't even sit up yet had this lovely little tooth. :)

theresaplaceforus · 29/11/2020 19:27

This has really upset me she’s a tiny baby why does this happen so early??

It's not unheard of for some babies to be born with a tooth or the start of one

weegiemum · 29/11/2020 19:29

My Dd1 (now 20) was born with a little blister on her bottom gum, and cut her first tooth at 10 weeks old. First I knew was when she bit me!

She had both bottom incisors by 16 weeks. That first wee tooth was always slightly yellow and she lost it at about 4 and a half. Big tooth didn't come through until her other teeth got wobbly, and is just like all her other teeth, no problem.

QualityFeet · 29/11/2020 19:29

It’s just one of those random things. My first got his at 11 weeks - I didn’t know enough to realise it was that unusual! Sometimes babies are born with a tooth already there! It’s fine - normal - just less common.

Mycircusmymonkey · 29/11/2020 19:32

Looks like it to me. Not entirely unusual but can see why it feels too soon. Conversely ds1 was over 18 months old before he got his first tooth

Mylittlepony374 · 29/11/2020 19:39

My first got hers at 9 weeks. They do look like teeth in your photo.
They're too young for most teething gels/medicine unfortunately. But with asking chemist just in case.
If you're breastfeeding you can pump and freeze into ice pops for them to suck with you holding on bottom gum while they do. This really helped us. Not sure if you can freeze formula.

Thank you for the replies so far. From this stage where the gum looks a little white - how long does it take for the tooth to actually cut through?

I know of two babies born with teeth

MaryShelley1818 · 29/11/2020 21:16

I also know of babies born with teeth.

Why are you so upset? Teething is a normal process that all babies go through. I really don't think teething at 7wks is that unusual, although probably a little earlier than average.

Oneandabean · 29/11/2020 22:36

My DD cut her first tooth the day of her christening at 12 weeks old and the second the day after. It’s really nothing to be upset about it’s just one of those things that varies for each child.

copperoliver · 29/11/2020 23:09

Looks like it to me. My friends daughter was born with teeth. X

Moo678 · 30/11/2020 14:26

Agree those look like teeth beneath the gum. They can take ages to come through though. It’s nothing to be upset about. Two of mine had a tooth by 16 wks.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 30/11/2020 16:33

My DS got teeth early and they all followed suit quickly often those first 2. We barely had any problems with him teething because he got them all so young so make the most of it.

Anbesol liquid is worth its weight in gold!!! Along with a cold Sophie the giraffe
