Hello all.

I know this isn't something to necessarily worry about but I'm 30 weeks pregnant and baby is measuring at 36 weeks, I've not got any health issues. All checks done and everything is fine up to now, he's just a big boy! I was wondering what worse case scenario is, is it he may be born earlier via c section if he carries on growing? Or is there anything else that could happen?

Thanks guys

Hi - assume you mean that you’ve also had a diabetes test?
Depending how big baby us tracking you may have a discussion about earlier induction, or CS. Generally CS would be offered if baby is tracking for above 5kg or so, if nothing else is going on. There’s some evidence for induction for big babies but it’s not a black and white thing- pros and cons need to be weighed up in discussion with your midwife and obstetrician - and that includes your goals and wishes. I guess just try to roll with it for a few weeks, generally you wouldn’t need to have a firm plan until after about 36 weeks, depending on what the scan shows. Earliest suggested delivery would be 37 weeks but generally people worry about small risks to baby with that, and preference is to wait a bit longer. Hopefully you get to have a good discussion with your team.
