Maternity exemption form

Hey :)

I was wondering if anyone could help me; I’m coming up to 20 weeks and still haven’t received my maternity exemption form. This has meant I’ve still been paying for prescriptions and dentist appointments when I haven’t needed to for some time now.

I’ve been on my midwifes case but she continuously ignores me. Does anyone know of any other way I can go about getting this? Getting so fed up now, it’s really shouldn’t be this hard :(

Thanks xx

I got mine from my GP surgery before I'd seen a midwife

You do this through your GP.

I got mine from GP surgery receptionist. To be honest I haven’t actually needed it- I had a prescription to collect (aspirin) and I just ticked the maternity exemption box, the pharmacist didn’t ask to see the form, she said she sees it electronically on the system that I’m eligible. But yes, GP surgery rather than midwife supplied it.

My midwife sent me my exemption form in the post for me to fill in, with her part stamped and signed. Think that was around 12 weeks (I think)

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 27/11/2020 08:40

My midwife just emailed me mine when I was about 7 weeks I've used it ever since

Ginfilledcats · 27/11/2020 08:47

Yeah you don't automatically get sent it, just go to gp reception and ask for it x

My midwife gave me the form to fill out and I posted it and the card came back in the post. It's not the same as your matb1 which you get at around 20 weeks. I didn't get my matb1 until I was 28 weeks (as this was my closest appointment to 20 weeks due to Covid).

My gp gave me mine as I need a prescription before seeing my midwife.

If you are still getting prescription ask for a receipt then when your exemption certificate comes through you can get a refund. There is a time limit, I think it is 90 days but I'm not sure.

I got mine from my midwife when I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks. Ask your GP for one, it won’t be sent to you automatically x

RayOfSunshine2013 · 27/11/2020 12:55

My midwife emailed me an exemption email at my booking appointment at approx 10 weeks, ring her and ask

Snackasaurus · 27/11/2020 13:48

I didn't get mine until 18 weeks. Can you phone your GP? If not, just keep pestering your midwife Smile

Kdw01 · 27/11/2020 14:11

Thanks everyone!!!! Pestering my midwife hasn’t worked but I rang my gp this morning and they told me to come in and fill in the form so I did that straight away and hopefully they post it to me soon! Not sure why the midwife couldn’t tell me that. If it wasn’t for you guys I’d still be sat twiddling my thumbs so thank you :)
