Acyclovir First Trimester

Hi ladies,

I’ve tried searching but there is a lack of information online about this subject. Has anyone taken acyclovir through their pregnancy, in particular their first trimester? I stopped taking my suppression meds when I found out last week that I was pregnant but I’ve already got a breakout, mine do tend to be quite bad and don’t go away on their own? Has anyone taken it and had no issue with their baby when born? I know they recommend taking it in third trimester but I really need to know if I’m ok to take it through first and second! Hey sorry I’ve only just seen this. Yes I asked my midwife and she said it was ok to take them if I had a breakout. But I didn’t want to chance taking them constantly. As it turns out I think alcohol is a massive trigger for mine so as I wasn’t drinking I never had any breakouts after the initial one when I first stopped. I now have a 7month old and haven’t had a breakout since. I’ve also been having the odd few glasses of wine and have been fine! They gave me antivirals to take throughout my third trimester as a precaution but that was it!
