Omeprazole in pregnancy - worth taking?

Hello!

So I'm currently on Stemetil 3 times a day for my sickness.

But the doctor has prescribed me omeprazole for suspected acid reflux.

What's your experience with omeprazole - good or bad? Or any side effects?

Also when did you take it? First thing in the morning?

It really does work. I've taken it in both pregnancies. Just take it at anytime of day really. I suppose if you want it to be working the first evening then take it first thing

I switched to it from another anti reflux med that I have to take for life and it worked just as well. Best to take it in the morning before you eat and make sure to take it every day or you'll notice!

I had awful acid reflux when pregnant with DS1. Got hospitalised as I was bringing up blood. At that time I was on omeprezole but the hospital switched me to ranitidine. If I am honest I didn't find any of them that great. Currently 25 weeks with DS2 and feeling this is rearing its ugly head again but only currently taking peptac for the heartburn. Hoping it doesn't get as bad this time. Hope it works for u x

I was miserable with awful reflux and it has changed my life!

I was struggling to sip water due to acid reflux but within a couple of days on omperazole it had mostly gone. I started it around 24 weeks every morning until I gave birth

I've been taking it for years and have continued to take it while pregnant, I'd run out of the prescription in the early weeks and had such bad bouts of heartburn. Since going back to taking it daily ive been perfectly fine! Still early days as I'm only 15 weeks but hopeful it can hold up. No side effects for me ever
