Control and test lines getting lighter

Hi ladies.

Has anyone had a situation where both the control and test lines are getting lighter? I've mixed it with water for hook effect, and it helps a little but they are still both much lighter than before.

I'm 6+1. I know I shouldn't be testing. I totally know that. And I had stopped. But I've had some bleeding this week and therefore felt like I needed a bit of reassurance. And now it has obviously done the opposite and I have assumed it is all over for me. So please be kind, I hadn't intended to be testing at this stage and had stopped once I got my 3+ until I saw the blood.

I'm just a bit confused why the control line would also be getting lighter, is that influenced by HCG levels too? First pics the ones from today (left mixed with water, right without) and second pic from last Sunday when I stopped testing

Thank you all ❤

You could have a pale control line or a dark one. You could have really dark test lines or really light ones. Your lines look the same, and the one from Sunday borders on being a "dye stealer". Pregnancy test sticks are testing for the presence of hcg, the only way to know how your levels are changing would be a blood test. The pregnancy tests are definitely positive hooray! However, if you have had some bleeding you need to call your GP and get checked out at the early pregnancy unit. Bleeding is really scary, but also fairly common. Definitely worth getting checked out. Thoughts with you OP.

Looks fine OP 👍

They are just cheap tests without much dye.

Thank you @purbal @justanotherneighinparadise really appreciate it. My GP has referred me to EPU to get checked because of the bleeding

I had very strong positives at 5 weeks. Stopped testing.
My friend thought she was pregnant and wanted a test from me, hers was pos. I took one too to show her the colour difference in lines because hers was really dark.
Mine came back totally negative at 8 weeks. I’m now 18 weeks.

I know it’s hard but you’d be best just to stop testing all together

I’m really sorry if this sounds negative but I’ve had several miscarriages and I’ve continued to have strong positive pregnancy tests until the bleeding has stopped. I even got positives for 3 wks after surgical management of a missed miscarriage. The tests won’t help you at this stage so please don’t obsess over them.

It’s great you’ve been referred to EPU - I hope they are able to reassure you properly Flowers

Thanks @Queenbee95 congratulations! 18 weeks is amazing ❤

I'm so sorry to hear your story @Moo678 you are of course right, just though when you feel everything is slipping away and you have no control. Hopefully EPU will give more clarity one way or the other!
