Static growth scan 36 weeks?

Im 35+5 and seen the midwife today, my bump hasn't grown since the last measurement 2 weeks ago (32cm) so I've been referred for a growth scan. How does this work if they have nothing to reference it to? I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks, will they scan me tomorrow then again in a couple of weeks to see if babys grown?

I was 35+5 when baby stopped growing for 3 weeks.. i was referred to a growth scan at my hospital. 2 days later they confirmed (at the growth scan) that something wrong with the placenta. I was put on observation over the weekend to check on myself and the baby. On Monday the consultant took another look and recommended that I have an emergency section due to the faulty placenta. That evening we had DS Confused i thought i had 5 weeks left but he had to come early 🤷🏽‍♀️.

OP this is my experience and what I think is they spotted early so you and baby can be taken care of Thanks They told me it may not be static growth or if it some babies pick up the growth in the next few days or so. In my case they decided best course for both of us is to have DS early x

I went for a growth scan on Monday and they just took a few measurements. Specifically from around the tummy and then some measurements of how deep the amniotic fluid was.

From those measurements they can tell if they are in the correct range for the gestation. As mine were all fine I didn't need any further scans. Fingers crossed it is the same for yourself.

The midwife I saw on Monday did say it was hard to establish growth from an external measurement so not to worry. Easier said than done though! Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Thank you both of you, they also need to recheck my BP and urine as signs of pre-eclampsia today but hoping it's just a one off 🤞 I'm not too worried if I have to have baby early, was just wondering what potentially to expect! I didn't think about them checking the placenta, at least if everything's ok it will give me peace of mind x

I've had a growth scan because my bump size went down and they check the size of the baby is in the correct range, checked blood flow to the placenta. Baby was absolutely fine, I think he'd changed position which explained the change in bump size

This is exactly what happened to me. Had to have SEVERAL growth scans because my bump was actually getting smaller! Each scan had baby growing perfectly fine, just hanging out against my spine.
