12-week scan

Anyone under a consultant and had their 12-week scan recently? I'm just wondering how long you were there for as my letter suggests it could be 2-3 hours but not sure if this was a standard letter pre-Covid. I do have a telephone appointment with a consultant so does this mean that I won't see the consultant at my 12 week scan?
My partner is allowed at the scan but has to work so can't be hanging around for 3 hours. I may have to go alone if this is the case. just wondering if anyone has any recent experience?

I’m under midwifery led care not consultant but I had my scan last week. I didn’t have to wait for the scan at all and pretty much went in at the time of my appointment. DH was allowed in towards the end of the scan and he had to wait outside before this, only around 10 mins. He then went home because then I saw the midwife after. There was a bit of a wait and then saw the midwife for bloods etc. All in all I was there around 2 hours, the scan part was quick so DH could go. It may be different with consultant led care though x

If your consultant app is at a different date you probably won't see the consultant at the same appointment.

I am consultant led but didn't have the first phone call till 22 weeks - I guess it depends why you are consultant led?

With my 12 week scan - the scan was on time but I opted for the extra screening tests that require a blood test. I had to wait another hour plus to be seen for the blood test so was there close to two hours.

My 20 week scan was nearly an hour late.

I had my dating scan yesterday. I thought my consultant appointment would be face to face, and again DH wouldn't be able to attend that, but was told when I arrived that the appointment would be remote. DH attended the scan & the consultant phoned me on my mobile before we even got home. It all felt rushed and a bit confusing if I'm honest, & I wish it was face to face.

I think it all depends on the hospital and the reasons why u are consultant lead, I would advise giving the hospital a call and they can give u a better idea.
I'm consultant lead and see her separately in a different department not the ultrasound department when I had 12 week scan we had to wait outside the hospital until 5 mins before scan and husband came for the whole scan (take about 15-20 mins) he then had to wait outside the hospital while I had bloods taken but that took 5 mins
I would just ring them as every hospital is going to be different at the min

Thank you. We are just going to go separately as my partner will need to get off to work as soon as possible.
