Brown blood at 6 weeks pregnant! Help!

I'm currently around 6 weeks pregnant. I've had brown spotting since last night, and a little this morning. No pain. I have a scan on Thursday at 11am but I'm so nervous. Anyone had brown spotting and baby been ok? I had a miscarriage in 2018 and it just takes me back to then. Had a healthy DS in 2019 though so it gives me hope. The spotting is brown, looks a bit like coffee granules. I've had minor pulling in my abdomen but no worse than it's been since I found out.

Sorry I don’t have any advice, but I’m in the same boat, had brown bleeding on and off since Thursday and have a scan at Thursday at 1.30. Thinking of you x

I did with my first. Lasted for a while. He's 21 now. It's alarming I know. Brown blood is less worrying than red. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do - just wait. Thanks

Yes both pregnancies and now boys age 6 & 11! Brown spotting every day roughly weeks 6-10. Fingers crossed it's ok. It's more common than you think but you don't hear about it pre pregnancy. Like you was scared first time initially.

Hohofortherobbers · 24/11/2020 18:49

I did with ds at 6 weeks, it lasted about 24hours, was brown and very light, I had a scan which was very reassuring. Pregnancy was problem free after that.

Are you on progesterone suppositories? Coffee grind type spotting is a common side effect.

AGeeseGoose · 24/11/2020 19:44

I had this around 7 weeks, couldn’t get a scan until 8 weeks and all was fine - mine was after a previous mc too so I know how awful it is. I had a bit more at 9 weeks and that was it until DD was born healthy at 40 weeks.

lostintheday · 24/11/2020 19:46

I had this too and it was fine.

I had fairly hefty bleeding that wasn't implantation bleeding but some kind of minor blood vessel haemorrhaging in the wall of my womb. Can't remember the name of it but I definitely have a 9 year old DD.

I had slight spotting early on with my DS too - unlike the immediate attention my spotting received in my second pregnancy, the doctor, when I phoned in panic, said "Well there's not much we can do if you're miscarrying... rest, keep an eye on it and call again if it gets worse." Hmm

It's probably a burst fibroid. The baby puts pressure in them and they bleed.

@whitershadeofpale

I'll be thinking of you too. Is it your first baby? Fingers crossed for sticky beans for us. The spotting has completely dried up from this morning, so fingers crossed it was only a small amount. Scan can't come quick enough x

Thanks @newhampshire5 yes it’s my first so really second guessing everything!

Mj300414 · 25/11/2020 11:30

I have had the same this morning, I have a dating scan next week, but hoping I dont have to wait that long, as I'm petrified and have spent the morning crying. So scary. Been trying for 6 years to concieve. Waiting on a doctors call.

newhampshire5 · 25/11/2020 16:42

@Mj300414 Oh bless you, it's so scary isn't it. How far along do you think you are? Fingers crossed for you.

@whitershadeofpale Do you know if we have to go to EPAS alone? Thinking of you for tomorrow.

Thanks @newhampshire5 I was told that I had to go alone but I guess it might vary from hospital to hospital.

Izabela86 · 25/11/2020 18:22

I had it at 6 weeks as well, exactly the same! It turned out that I had a subchorionic hematoma which resolved itself by week 12. It can be scary! I went for an extra scan. My baby is now almost 5 months old Smile

Mj300414 · 25/11/2020 20:17

Yes it is. And the doctors couldn't get through to me so have to wait until tomorrow now but think they are sending me epu. Spent the day crying. X

newhampshire5 · 26/11/2020 12:03

All is ok. Can only see a yolk sac at the moment but she says it looks really healthy. Presuming I'm around 5.5 weeks. I’ve got to go back on the 10th to be rescanned to check on how baby is growing. She couldn’t find any signs of bleeding so maybe it was implantation. Fingers crossed for you ladies x

@whitershadeofpale How did you get on?

OP posts:
whitershadeofpale · 27/11/2020 10:23

@newhampshire5 I’d already had bad news on Wednesday after I woke up on Wednesday morning in pain and bleeding. I didn’t need a scan in the end as a test was already negative. I hadn’t posted as I didn’t want you to be more nervous.

I’m glad everything is ok and will keep my fingers crossed for a strong heartbeat on 10th x

newhampshire5 · 27/11/2020 13:33

@whitershadeofpale Oh love I am so sorry. I've been where you are now and it's heartbreaking. I hope you get your sticky bean soon! And thank you, fingers crossed for a strong heartbeat x
