What did you do different when you got your BFP

I'm going into cycle 6 and was just wondering what you all did differently the month you conceived (if you were actively trying) and how long you were TTC for?xx

OP posts:
Meomeomeo · 24/11/2020 12:25

The main thing for me is being able to pinpoint my ovulation date.

MimiDaisy11 · 24/11/2020 12:36

I agree with the above post. The first month we used ovulation tests was the successful one, but I guess we were really lucky.

Nat4392 · 24/11/2020 12:58

I finally got my BFP on cycle 14. The main thing I did differently that month was taking soy isoflavones. Don’t know if that’s what actually did it though! Being able to pinpoint ovulation is a must!

henrystender · 24/11/2020 13:07

Nothing for my first, one shot wonder, this time we did ivf

Dollywilde · 24/11/2020 13:09

We got pregnant on cycle 9. It was the first month we used preseed but I suspect it was coincidence! I will be using it again next time though just in case.

Ele38 · 24/11/2020 13:14

Used opks and when it was positive had sex that day and following 3 days worked for me on second cycle now my 3 week old is sleeping beside me. Best of luck Flowers

Tibtab · 24/11/2020 13:16

I used a moon cup overnight after DTD as I heard that it keeps everything in so more chance of fertilisation.

Oneandabean · 24/11/2020 13:32

I used pre-seed and got pregnant on the first use.

ScotchBunnet · 24/11/2020 13:45

We got pregnant the 4th month of trying. I don’t think we did anything specifically different - what seemed to work for us was having sex every 2/3 days throughout the month rather than trying to accurately locate my ovulation date, but I think different things work for different people.

bouncealongbouncealong · 24/11/2020 13:47

I know this will sound silly but the month I got my BFP was the month I gave up trying to get my BFP. It was cycle 7. I drank wine, went back to proper tea and coffee (no decaf!) I had hot baths, threw away the ovulation sticks and didn't leave my legs in the air after DTD. I still kept an eye on ovulation using the flow app and I made sure we had 'extra' sex during my fertile week. With both myself and DH being super relaxed and as close to normal it happened! Good luck 😉

PinkPlantCase · 24/11/2020 13:48

Had more sex before and after ovulation, not just on the day. I think we enjoyed it more too, less stressy more happy. Easier said that done I know when you’re TTC

PinkPlantCase · 24/11/2020 13:48

Also ate Brie 😂

TillyTheTiger · 24/11/2020 13:50

Used pre-seed for the first time. Probably had nothing to do with it, but we'd been trying for a year before without success.

Luckyelephant1 · 24/11/2020 13:50

Cycle 5 for me and this was the first month I used OPKs to pinpoint ovulation rather than just the Flo app. I ovulated 2 days later than what Flo predicted! It was also the first time we used the Sperm Meets Egg Plan (SMEP method, Google it if you haven't heard of it, it's not really rocket science but it helped us stick to a DTD routine). Again could just be a coincidence that we conceived this cycle but worth a try x

Luckyelephant1 · 24/11/2020 13:52

Oh and just to add, our next thing would have been to add preseed into the mix

Theeasypeasywoman · 24/11/2020 15:19

We got out BFP on 4th cycle of trying where I almost gave up and I was actually researching about having fertility tests done privately 2 days after ovulation and DTD. I switched to Pregnacare conception that month. Previously I was taking Sevenseas trying for baby vitamins. I also took Folate (L-Methylfolate) that month and used 4g (which is a full applicator ) of preseed that month. We had used preseed previously but only 1-2g. and I tracked my ovulation all 4 cycles with opks and premom app. And as I said I almost gave up, I was taking this cycle not very seriously and not stressing about getting pregnant at all... I don't know which one worked but I am glad I am 7 weeks today :)

adogisforlife91 · 24/11/2020 15:25

We were very lucky to catch first time. DTD every other day from the end of period to a few days after ovulation. I used OPKs for a few months before trying to get a good idea of my ovulation date which is a bit later in the cycle. We also used pre-seed as I don't make much EWCM and wanted to give us the best chance. So a combination or that, or just luck worked for us. I'd try pre-seed, it wont do any harm and might just do the trick.

Good luck OP

MrsH497 · 24/11/2020 15:34

I used OPKs took 6 months first time (mc) then 2 more. Both times we've actually been away for the weekend enjoying food and drink!

Bumble84 · 24/11/2020 15:39

We were ttc for over a year. It was just left to me to know when ovulation was happening which was completely fine with both of us tbh. However the month we conceived I said to DH ‘now would be a good time for us to have sex for a baby’ he said ‘we’d better do it twice then 😂’ lo and behold I fell pregnant!

PutOnAHappyFace · 24/11/2020 16:09

Honestly, nothing. We had sex once. Didn't do the normal ovulation testing or calender checking. I was just a lucky shot it seemed. 14months of trying, first month of nothing doing anything different.

22ELF22 · 24/11/2020 16:55

After 11 months trying, we got out BFP today!

Things we did differently..

  • I stopped tracking everything except when we DTD. I didn't focus on my CM, or sore boobs, nothing.
  • We both started taking conception tablets a month ago.
  • I had almost given up TTC naturally, we were going to call a fertility clinic this week to get tested.

Hang in there, stay positive, try not to stressed and it will happen when you least expect it! Good luck xx

sophi1207 · 24/11/2020 17:08

We tried for 2 cycles, on the 3rd it was my birthday, we went away, had a few drinks and completely chilled out. I was shocked when I got my BFP. I am sure it was complete coincidence though and dont necessarily believe the whole 'itll happen when you stop trying'. Good luck :)

Darcy86 · 24/11/2020 17:19

We were on cycle 7, first time using the Clearblue digital ovulation test, DTD the day of getting the smiley face (and the following 2 days after) and then 2.5ish weeks later I got my BFP! Am now heading into my third trimester :)

Mimba1 · 24/11/2020 18:04

We were TTC for 3 years - I think it was around cycle 35 we got our first BFP. After seeing a fertility counsellor she suggested that we stop all of the tracking, ovulation testing etc as it was all a bit imprecise (so easy to miss ovulation for me) and was causing me huge amounts of stress which wouldn't be helping. We just started DTD every 1-2 days instead. It was exhausting (and not in a good way!) and involved immense logistical planning with our work patterns but successful month 2 of doing that. Also used pre-seed (not recommended by her but can't have done any harm) and staying lying down after (gravity could help?) We lost that baby in January but since then I've had 2 more BFPs - another loss in April and my 3rd BFP is now 21 weeks. It was like my body needed a reset or something!

MumChats · 24/11/2020 18:23

Regular sex. I had an app that tracked ovulation, the month we conceived we had completely missed all the days it predicted. I was so surprised to get the BFP! Just goes to show that you shouldn't rely on tech too much!
