I used the pull up pants from always (incontinence pads) obviously added benefit of not wearing knickers. I tried maternity pads initially and they hurt my stitches if they got bent or something. I'm going to try the Aldi pants this time (Sena). I'd say pants initially (so much more comfy) and then when bleeding lessens I'd go for pads.

Proper maternity pads are important for the first few days to monitor blood loss. Excessive bleeding may be missed in more absorbant pads.
Big granny pants keep them in place!!

@Santaisironingwrappingpaper

I was given always in my hospital (they provide them) apparently it's just as easy to monitor

Lillets worked well for me!

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 23/11/2020 16:40

No hospital would suggest or approve of tampon use...

Fleetwoodmacs · 23/11/2020 16:42

I used pads with GIANT black pants. I still have the pants. So comfy!

ArtfulScreamer · 23/11/2020 17:36

I used Tena really comfy and not much faffing about as the whole lot goes in the bin. I leaked the first time I used a normal maternity pad. I'm pregnant again and will be digging the tena knickers out.

I used the tena pull ups for the first week as was easier and sooooo comfy!!! Then switched to maternity pads after that.

I used Tena, best thing I packed in my maternity bag!

I used the tena pants with a pad inside!

readyforroundtwo · 23/11/2020 19:48

I also used the pants as I found the pads used to poke out at the end and I had a lump in between my bum cheeks Grin

I had an episiotomy and a lot of stitches with my first and found the Natracare pads the only ones that didn't irritate my bits. I wore cheap massive black pants from the supermarket with them. You can get the pads in Waitrose, not plasticky/perfumed like most.

Miss2820 · 24/11/2020 18:01

I saw some on Amazon but they look massive lol

@Miss2820 I definitely needed massive! Completely different to a period and used quite a few when my waters broke slowly too.

I might get them then.. the normal standard ones from boots Asda etc don’t seem that thick and big.. I’m just trying to remember back 4 years ago with my first...
